Bellmawr is a small town in New Jersey, United States. The population was 3,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of Middlesex County. Bellmawr was founded in 1777 and incorporated as a village in 1824. The name "Bellmawr" is thought to be derived from the Old English word "bælwarr", meaning 'a bulwark'. In 1681, Sir John Smith's forces burned down the old mill and village on the same road that leads to Middletown. This event is commemorated by a bell tower in Bellmawr that still tolls theold time clock! The first settler in what would become Bellmawr was Nicholas Hackett who arrived with his wife and four children on October 14, 1777. He platted lots around where he resided and built his house near what is now Main Street. Mrs. Hackett died young at home after giving birth to their first child, Nicholas Jr., on October 10th of that year; however, he lived to adulthood and married her sister Sarah Higginson two years later when they were both twenty-one years old. Mr .Hackett sold all his land except one unnamed lot located south of present day Second Avenue for £100 to Revolutionary War General Anthony Wayne on December 12th of that year following their victory over British forces at Monmouth Court House which led to American independence! This victory helped start America’s war for independence! Unfortunately for the Hacketts their lot did not play an important role in this battle because General Wayne only attacked them once - during winter Months when there were no troops available! Nicholas' son Nicholas Jr., born December 10th, 1778 also became involved with early America as he enlisted as a soldier with Captain John Potter's artillery unit during The French & Indian War (1756-1763). After being discharged from service he returned home where he married Deborah Clayton on February 2nd of 1795 just before her eighteenth birthday – she was six months younger than him! They had five children: Susannah (born November 20th 1800), Angelica (born May 15th 1802), Elizabeth (born December 11th 1804), Washington Irving (January 12th 1807)and Nicholas hackett II or NICHOLAShackettJr.(April 21st 1811). On July 4th 1830Nicholashackett II along with eight others were charged with treason against Great Britain during The Patriotic Uprising resulting from THE CONFUSION which erupted between Americans& Britishers about whether or not US Govt should recognizeaired new King ofSpain Fernando VII!!!!!!!!! All but one member were acquitted although nickname hacker had been given to him due to previous trials involving similar charges!!! One can assume it cost $10K+ per witness plus costs associated with transportation etc................... A very interesting read if you want learn more about late 19 century America......... The Village Of Bellmawr Was Established In 1800 By Reverend Samuel Morse And His Wife Esther To Help Meet The Needs Of Local Population Who Were Living In Fear Of Indians !! As Villages Became More numerous And Advanced Technology Diffused So Too did Concern For Safety Which Produced initiatives such as Streets named For Charity And Their Own Protection……..Now A Heritage Site Within Limits

Bellmawr is a small town located in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden–Atlantic City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Bellmawr area has been inhabited for over 5,000 years and has its roots in the Lenape Native Americans. In 1777, Bellmawr was platted as a township by proprietors of the Fort Cumberland estate in present-day Burlington Township. The first settler to arrive in what is now Bellmawr was John Smith on October 4, 1777. In 1801, Richard Stockton purchased land at what is now Community College Road and Main Street from David Brantley and established Bellmawr as a village with government services and schools. On February 22, 1805, Samuel Morse opened the first commercial post office in America at what is now Main Street and Broad Street in Bellmawr. In 1844, two brothers - Amos Davenport and Wirt Davenport - founded Davenport & Company ironworks along the Delaware River near Bellefonte which became one of the leading iron production businesses in America. After their death their sons continued operations until 1959 when it merged with Bethlehem Steel Corporation to form Unitedsteelburg Corporation (USTC). During World War II UTC produced munitions including aircraft parts and ammunition for Allied forces within enemy territory; during peacetime it manufactured light industrial products such as tires and plastics. In 1978 UTC merged with American Carpenters Union to become Amalgamated Building Products Inc (ABCPI). ABCPI operated primarily as an outsourcing company providing carpentry services to other companies throughout North America; however, following bankruptcy proceedings in 2002 ABCPI resumed operations as an independent company under the name Balfour Beatty Carpenter Co Incorporated (BBCI). In 2007 Balfour Beatty Carpenter Co Incorporated filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection seeking $2 billion dollars in fresh financing from several sources including Bank ofAmerica Merrill Lynch LLC (NBC)and Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.; however no decision was made about whether or not to approve restructuring plans which would have involved decreasing hours for workers while maintaining some jobs within company limits
Bellmawr is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 12,898 at the 2010 census. Bellmawr was formed from part of Rahway Township on February 3, 1868. The first settler in what is now Bellmawr was John Higginson who arrived in 1795 and made his home on the north side of the Hackensack River. He named his property "Higginson's Mill" after himself and his son Higginson II. Another early settler were Nicholas Moretti and family who platted a triangular piece of land around present day Hope Avenue and Raritan Road which became known as "Moretti's Corner". In 1833, John Fenton purchased 100 acres (40 hectares) of land to the east of where Rahway Township now stands from Andrew Morris. Fenton named his new township "Bellmawr", after himself and his brother David Bell who had come overland from Pennsylvania that year. By 1835, more than 60 families had settled in Bellmawr with about 25 people living in each house. A school was erected for children by Mr. Drexel near what is now High Street and Elizabeth Street in 1836-37. By 1840, there were 300 residents living in bellmawr with 5 churches serving them along with a post office and storehouse/storage facility built nearby by Captain John Waddell around this time). In 1850-51 there were 9 residents living here including 1 teacher; all but one of these residents worked locally or within miles of their homes while also attending local schools. By 1860 there were 150 residents here with 10 businesses providing services to them including 2 churches serviceing their community plus another storehouse/storage facility built nearby by Captains Archbold & Howe just south of today's intersection of High Street and Elizabeth Streets.). However during the American Civil War many Residents fled north to Canada due to secessionist sentiment however by 1865 most Bellmawrians had returned home or moved away once hostilities ceased but some remained until they too left for good during Reconstruction days when township borders changed again making it difficult to maintain social contact among constituents.) This period saw an influx of Italians beginning around 1860 who began working on farms near present day Bloomfield Avenue as well as construction work on various white elephant projects such as an Erie Canal crossing which never happened although plans did exist for it (such crossings would have allowed easier access into New York City for migrants seeking economic opportunity). This group continued to live primarily within original boundaries set when township was created while other families developed elsewhere within Bergen County continuing much like their predecessors before them -albeit with different economic outcomes.)
