The first gun target in Bellmawr, New Jersey was erected on the property of John and Anna Stephenson in 1815. The Stephenson home served as a firing ground for local militia during the American Revolution. In 1847, the original rifle range was built on land owned by David Potter. The new range was designed by George Washington Morgan and opened in 1850. It became an NRA-affiliated pistol range in 1922. In 1927, the Bellmawr Rifle Range and Pistol Club moved to its current location on Potters Road.
Bellmawr, New Jersey is a small town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Morris County. The first settler in what is now Bellmawr was Isaac Sears who arrived in 1788. Settlers started arriving more frequently from New York and Pennsylvania during the 18th century. In 1800, Captain John Smith recruited men to help him build a road from Trenton through Morris and Passaic Counties to Asbury Park; this road became known as the Bellmawr Road. George Washington visited Bellmawr on July 11, 1800 while on his way from Princeton to Morristown and stopped at the tavern near present-day Main Street for dinner with local settlers Nathaniel Peake and others before continuing his journey home. Reverend John Woolridge established an academy here in 1801 which later turned into Rutgers University. In 1827, Colonel James Kapp founded what became Kapp's Brewery which still exists in downtown Bellmawr today with over 100 years of continuous production under its current name of Delaware Brewing Company Incorporated (DBC). The town's first school was opened by Rev Dr Joshua Goode on December 12th, 1828; it was replaced by a schoolhouse located on Meetinghouse Hill around 1865 after Hurricane Andrew damage destroyed many buildings within walking distance of that location including both schools. After much debate between families over where/when to build a Methodist church (the original plans called for it to be built next door to Hennepin Chapel), construction began on First Methodist Church – also located on Meetinghouse Hill – in 1870 when Reverend Amos Tuttle became pastor there after moving from Morristown several years earlier. In 1885, work began on what would become Empire State Building; however due to funding shortages caused by nationwide economic recession bellmawr did not see any major construction until 1936 when Rural Electrification Administration (REA) funded two projects - One becoming Elizabeth Tower and another becoming Wayne State University’s main campus building - both now part of Quinnipiac University’s Old Campus Historic District. On October 6th 1916 – just one year after World War I ended – Ulysses S Grant dedicated Wright Field at Belleair Air Reserve Base adjacent to Elizabeth Tower during an event attended by then-President Wilson and other high ranking military leaders including General Douglas MacArthur In 1927 additional development occurred when commercial tenants such as Macy's Department Store moved into new buildings north of Downtown Drive including Ridgemont Hotel which still stands today as one of NJ's oldest hotels with over 150 years of history . With continued interest in downtown redevelopment throughout the 30s & 40s various stores were torn down or moved out altogether leaving only three remaining structures standing:twenty-six story woolen mill complex facing Broad Street; six stories office tower overlooking Broad Street; thirty-story steel frame apartment building facing Broad Street Designed by Newark born architect Lewis Mumford this structure remains as one of NJ’s tallest extant residential buildingsCompleted in 1951 following extensive rehabilitation resulting in its being declared a National Historic LandmarkBoth Ridgemont Hotel & fifty-second floor apartments were lost during Hurricane Sandy but have since been restored & are currently used as residences once again . Also significant among these developments was one twinning agreement reached between Rutgers Univ.-Newark & Union College-Belleville resulting in the incorporation of both institutions into Rutgers Uni.; this marked the first time American colleges had ever twinned with European universities . Although originally designed primarily for students attending RutgersUniv., most future skyscrapers erected within framework below Breezeway Boulevard include amenities specifically designed for students living or working nearby like libraries etcetera . By 1960 approximately 60% all jobs within commuting distance were filled either directly or via intercity bus service keeping downtown businesses open despite oilakiing operations taking place along Breezeway Boulevard During much recent debate surrounding gentrification efforts culminating with zoning changes passed by Township Council Serial #4 enacted backdated January 15th 2017 adding multiple hectares (~16 acres) along Breezeway Boulevard resurfacing roadway making access very difficult (& costly) some residents have taken legal action claiming they have been denied fair market value for their property while others simply enjoy convenient access to employment opportunities without having their homes demolished

Bellmawr, New Jersey is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Newark-Westminster Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Bellmawr area became part of Monmouth County on April 14, 1774 when it was split from Middlesex County. The town of Bellmawr was founded on July 15, 1814 by Colonel John Fenton and his brother-in-law Drury Lewis. The first physician to practice in what is now Bellmawr was Dr. Nicholas Biddle who opened a dispensary in 1814. It should be noted that some early settlers were not Mellenites or Quakers but Flushing Dutch immigrants who arrived around 1800 and named their community after their birthplace - Amsterdam (now Rotterdam). In 1815 the township's first courts were held at a house known as 'the Old Fort'. soon after however this property also became an arsenal for the militia which helped with defense against Indian attacksring the area during the War of 1812. By 1821 there were nine churches and three schools in what would become bellmawr; one school having been built by Reverend George Eliot while he served as pastor of Wasp Lake Congregationalist Church located across from present day Merrick Borough Hall building (which served as both church and school until 1962). Finally construction began on what would becomeMerrick borough hall on October 10th, 1825 following an offer from President James Kieft to donate land for its erection free of charge within monmouth county’s borders – something that had never been done before in this manner anywhere in America! The cornerstone for borough hall was laid by Bishop Samuel Higginson on November 10th, 1825–a gesture that signaled a new era for Monmouth County as it rapidly experienced growth thanks to Kieft’s gift! Bellmawr reached its peakpopulation numbering 5,853 persons according to CensusTables taken during 1920 however due to World War I decline in population rates saw numbers tumble to 2,947 by 1930 averaging 1,877 per year; though still respectable given the time period! Aided by industrial development coming along with increasing transportation options such as Interstate 95 (then called "the Turnpike"), Bellmawr gradually started ascending back up into prominence through the 1940s reaching 4,000 inhabitants by 1950; although again experiencing modest growth rates due largely to outflow migration away from rural areas towards larger metropolitan centers like Philadelphia and Newark NJ during this time! However such trends abruptly reversed beginning in 1960 with declines totaling 607 residents over just five decades! Bellmawr was founded in 1709 by James Bell and his brothers. The first post office was established in 1826. The town was named for John Bell, the father of James, who also donated land to the town. In 1881, Bellmawr became a borough.
