Bellmawr is a town in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 21,293 at the 2010 census. Bellmawr was founded on February 6, 1735 by Benjamin Franklin and John Thomson as part of the township of West Milford. The name derives from a Celtic word meaning "a bay with thick woods behind it." It grew rapidly due to its strategic location on the Susquehanna River and its close relationship with Philadelphia. In 1834, the Township Act granted township status to all of Camden County. As result, Bellmawr became an incorporated town on April 14, 1868. The townships of West Milford and Easton were removed from Camden County to form new municipalities within New Jersey on January 1, 1971. Bellmawr remains an unincorporated community inside Camden County. Bellemawr is located near Interstate 95 and State Route 381 (Cedar Hill Road). It consists of a main street named for Benjamin Franklin (Franklin Avenue), three small streets that run parallel to Franklin Avenue between Cedar Hill Road and Home Avenue (Bellemawr Drive), two other roads leading to separate residences called Jackson Roads (One road leads east to Willow Glen Road; one road leads west to Bellemead Boulevard), and several acres of open land along the Susquehanna River which forms the eastern border of Bellemawr Park. The river borders Bellemead Boulevard on the north side while Willow Glen Road runs east-west across this parkland towards Philadelphia .

Bellmawr, New Jersey is a small town located in Middlesex County, New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 18,681. The Bellmawr post office was established on November 12, 1798 and was discontinued on October 15th of that year. It reopened on December 10th and continued to serve until it closed on January 6th, 1802. The name of the town comes from Sir John Bellamy who settled in what is now Bellmawr Township in 1786. The township was named for him and his wife Mary Livingston (1759-1825). The first settler in what is now Bellmawr Township were three men – John Dickinson (1753-1824), Nicholas Barber (1760-1826) and Samuel Willing (1764-1837). In 1798, whenNJ erected its first law book, only 3 residents lived within its boundaries: Nicholas Barber at Bound Brook Farm; George Washington at Woodbridge; and John Dickinson at Southold Manor. The first courthouse in what is now Bellmawr Township opened on February 7th of that year. It served as the court house for Justice William Howland from 1800 to 1801 before being moved to Bound Brook Court House where it remained until it burned down in 1802. At this time most civil cases were handled by justices from neighboring towns which madeBellmawr an important stop for justiceseekers travelling along NJ’s routes 40 and 93. On October 15th of that year, the Bellmawr postoffice was discontinued due to lack of mail volume but reopened with new branding effective November 12th under the name “Newburgh Post Office” after its current location within newly created Middlesex County outside of old Monmouth County - both counties had been formed byession following the American Revolution years earlier. Although serving primarily as a stopover between New York City and Philadelphia during their migrations during these early days there wasn’t much trade or commerce taken place within these limits so little if any local history exists aside from some very brief mention given herein should anyone be curious about such things! Bellmawr is a borough in New Jersey, United States. It was formed from part of Hamilton Township on March 15, 1834, and took its name from General James Bell. The borough was enlarged on April 24, 1875, when the portion of Hamilton Township north of the Hackensack River was added to it.
