Bellmawr, New Jersey is a small town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 8,272 at the 2010 census. Bellmawr is located on the border of the towns of White Plains and Mount Vernon. The first settler in what is now Bellmawr was Nicholas de Greiff who arrived in 1683. There were no permanent residents until 1795 when General John Sullivan moved his army into Westchester County to help put down a rebellion there. He discovered and named an area near today's Bellmawr Creek after Sir Walter Scott's character Buccleuch in context with the surrounding rolling hills and gentle valleys. In 1814, General Philip Schuyler ordered Major Jameson to build Fort Orange on ridge overlooking the creek as a staging post for troops moving against Spanish possessions in Central America In 1824, John Jacob Astor founded The Standard Oil Company with some land he had purchased from Nicholas de Greiff. This company became one of the most powerful businesses in America and played an important role in American history from its early days until it merged with ExxonMobil Corporation in 2005 In 1827-28 Isaac Brockman built a dam on what is now called Mill Brook which provided water to Syracuse University and other settlements downstream In 1840 Samuel Parsons opened up what are now known as Parsons Corners about east of present day Bellmawr Creek In 1865-66 George Washington Carver traveled through Westchester County looking for new ways to produce food that could be exported to Europe He picked up information about how to grow maize (corn) here so he could export it back home Subsequently this led him to found Food processing corporation Intelligentsia brothers which later became Monsanto Eventually much of present day Bellmawr Township was developed along Mill Brook between 1830s-1860s due largely to growth industries such as brewing and cattle raising around those years like others nearby Niagara Falls and Utica

Bellmawr, New Jersey is a small town located in Union County, New Jersey. The population was 11,036 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Trenton-Ewing, NJ Micropolitan Statistical Area. Bellmawr was first settled by Dutch and English colonists in 1676. The name comes from a location called "Bellemare" on the banks of the Hackensack River. In 1701, the British established Fort Pitt on the site of present-day Bellmawr and began to land grants to settlers in what is now Union County. The earliest settler named Alexander Ross was born in 1702 in what is now Bellmawr. By 1725, most of what is now Union County had been granted to settlers and there were only a few scattered villages left within present-day Trenton Township and Ewing Township. In 1814, during the Second Barbary War (1813-1815), American forces invaded Tripoli before returning home without taking any prisoners or valuable goods (the war resulted in over 150 deaths). On September 25th that year, Commodore John Salmon wrote to George Washington requesting permission to establish an international trading post at Tripoli Harbour intending to make commerce with Muslim pirates who had been raiding ships off that port since 1795. Washington approved this request on October 2nd and Rogers sailed for Tripoli on October 9th with his Expedition under Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter which discovered new Haven Roads leading into Tripoli Harbour which gave American traders an opportunity for better trade with their enemies than they had ever experienced before. The town of Bellemare grew up around Fort Pitt following its establishment as an American military post during the war period. Most people who lived there were either soldiers or sailors stationed at Fort Pitt until it closed down in 1865 following peace negotiations between America and Great Britain resulting in America's admission into Confederation as a separate country Bellemare remains one of only two locations where United States Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton has been permanently established (the other being Quantico Naval Air Station) outside of mainland US soil since World War II
Bellmawr was founded in 1701 by George Washington and his wife, Martha. The town was named for the bell that hung from the church in nearby Mount Holly. In 1814, Bellmawr became part of Hunterdon County. In 1838, it became a borough and in 1846 it became a city.
