In 1871, when it became part of Monmouth County again, Asbury Parkspopulation increased to over 100,000 people due to numerous waves of immigrants coming to America during that time period: Germans (from Eastern Prussia), Italians (from Tuscany), Irish (from Northern Ireland), Poles (from southern Silesia), Swiss (from Basel- Zurich area), and Scandinavian travelers! Today there are few traces left from those early days: The original white stone courthouse still stands today; and although many homes have been lost through fire or redevelopment efforts over the years – such as that at 709 Main Street – most residents still call Asbury Park home! With its mix of Old World charm and modern amenities – including world-class shopping malls like PPL Center andTarget Center – Asberry Parish remains an important cultural center for much of southwestern New Jersey!
