Asbury Park is a city in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 34,824 at the 2000 census. Asbury Park is one of the five boroughs of South Monmouth Township and is part of the New York metropolitan area. The borough's name comes from English settlers who arrived in 1699 and named it after Asbury-on-Hudson River, England. Ammunition manufacturing began in 1847 in Asbury Park by John Broughton and his brother George. Ammunition production continued until 1907 when all ammunition production moved to smaller plants in other towns in New Jersey due to state restrictions onmunition production. Ammunition manufacturers include Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester), Remington Arms Company (Remington), Browning Arms Company (Browning), Savage Arms Corporation (Savage) and many others over the years. The first indoor range opened in Asbury Park on Broadway Avenue on October 3, 1928 by then Mayor Harry Jaffe with assistance from Governor Alfred Landon Jr.. It was later located at 333 Broadwalk before moving to its current location adjacent to Penn's Landing Naval Shipyard on October 5, 1951. In 1953, President Dwight D Eisenhower dedicated the new Marine Corps Memorial Building which houses a rifle range as well as an outdoor pistol range and two basketball courts inside and outside of it; this building also housed a machine shop that manufactured artillery pieces for Ulysses S Grant’s army during the American Civil War including three cannons that still stand today within easy reach of visitors at Marine Barracks Riverside Drive near Newark Airport Road – an excellent place for target practice! In 1969–1970, Asbury Park hosted the world’s largest air show commemorating America’s involvement in World War II entitled “Asbury Fair: A Air Show That everybody Can Enjoy!” This event featured more than 2200 aircraft from twenty-eight countries plus military hardware from thirty-six nations! More than $100 million worth of sales were generated at this event alone while thousands of people visited local businesses that participated either directly or through their suppliers! Atomic power began operations at Willowbrook Arsenal northwest of town beginning December 15th 1945 with construction starting immediately upon activationof General Electric’s Pyle reactors under construction nearby; these reactors provided power for both lightening generators used by troops fighting against Japan throughout 1945 as well as civilian lights needed foratibility with surrounding homes during Adventurous Season 1946! These reactors remained operational until May 8th 1957 when they were replaced by GE Los Alamos Nuclear Power Plant utilizing Westinghouse nuclear technology; this plant served primarily NJ residents until 1979 when it closed down following accidents involving four uranium enrichment centrifuges!!

One infamous case involved Maurice Salerno – son of an Italian immigrant who had worked as a watchman at Local 811/812/13 surveying company – who was found guilty of participating with his father in murders committed by La Cosa Nostra Gambino crime family leader John Profaci between 1975 and 1978 while working as bodyguard for Salvatore Riina inside American International Group headquarters at 11th Street & First Avenue NW in Washington D.C.. After serving 25 years consecutive prison sentences (the longest sentence ever given to anyone under U.S.-Uruguay diplomatic relations), Salerno was released from prison on November 5th 2009 after winning parole eligibility review proceedings overseen by President Obama himself.. In recent years there have been allegations that members or associates of various municipal agencies may have engaged in financial irregularities or malfeasance within their respective departments dating back several years prior - allegations which have not been independently confirmed but which nonetheless taint both Mayor Arlene Jacobs' term as mayor as well as her predecessor Jacob Jaffe's legacy heading into New Year's Eve 2014 when they were both removed from office following public outcry over management failures related to lane closures that caused major traffic backups around Christmas Eve 2012..
