In 1875, Sir Edwin Lubbock donated land at the edge of present-day Somersworth for a public school district called Lubbock District No. 1 School District (later renamed Canterbury-Leburn School District). The first school building was erected in 1898; today it is used as a museum. The groundbreaking for what would become Northumberland County took place on July 3rd, 1851; Northumberland County was created on November 1st that year by Maine State Legislature via an act passed while Governor Edward Everett Shafer was attending a Constitutional Convention in Augusta, Maine! In 1902, three brothers - David Moulton Howe (1853-1937), Austen Clayborne Howe (1857-1935) - opened one of America's first grocery stores in Somersworth with their father’s original store fronting Main Street between Church Street and Market Street. That same year saw the opening of Wrentham’s general store across from now’s Post Office on South Main Street from which all local mail went until Deliverance Day 1941 when delivery ceased due to World War IIaperilization changes! One hundred years later... On October 15th 2019 during “Citizens Gathering at Church Fields Park” held byNH Historical Society President Drayton Littlejohn Jr., NHHS Superintendent Dave Bowman announced that Wrentham’s Building will be open for visitors starting February 14th 2020 until May 30th 2020 inclusive!

Somersworth, New Hampshire is a town in Nashua County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,269 at the 2010 census. Somersworth is part of the Manchester metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Somersworth was Gideon Moody who arrived in 1776 and named it after his home town of Norwalk, Connecticut. The town was platted in 1792 by a group of investors led by Capt John Putnam and Samuel Morse. It remained unincorporated until 1868 when it became part of the newly created Nashua city government. The townsite that makes up today's Somersworth was originally located on the west side of the river Merrimac near what is now I-291 (the old alignment of US Route 6) and State Street. In 1868, a group of local farmers formed a company to purchase 640 acres (250 hectares) on which they erected a small frame courthouse and schoolhouse. This small community rapidly grew into an important county seat for Nashua County due to its location on navigable water routes and access to agricultural markets. In 1907, as part of plans to rationalize transportation within Nashua County, the county officials purchased 3 sections of land north of Somersworth from three different landowners – including one which had been used as an Indian reservation – for $255 per acre (USD). This parcel would become known as "The Farm", serving as the nucleus around which many later development activities occurred in this largely agricultural county seat. By 1930, whenNH 3 changed its name from NH 6 to I-91 (nowExit 191), Somersworth had become well known throughout New England for its shopping malls and other commercial developments such as Interstate 495/US Route 291 interchange just south of town proper along NH 9W/Route 6 eastward towards Lebanon Valley Resort & Casino). During World War II, much needed munitions were produced at nearby Fort Monmouth while also providing temporary housing for workers at Dartmouth College during their wartime production facilities; this helped contribute importantly to revitalizing downtown Somersworth following months-long closures prompted by air raids during that conflict. After hostilities ended in 1945, many veterans returned home but some chose instead to stay in southern New Hampshire where they continued their civilian careers or founded their own businesses there; these latter efforts continue through present day with major business areas concentrated along NH 3 corridor running through town center - exemplified byZDNet's former employees lounge located adjacent to Perkins School District Administration Building).
