Nashua, New Hampshire is home to the world's first rifle stock company. The company was founded in 1795 by Captain John Nash and his son Amos Nash. They began manufacturing rifles in a small town on the banks of the Merrimack River. The company became one of the leading rifle manufacturers in the country. In 1828, Captain Amos Nash sold his share of the business to his father. The family continued to produce rifles until 1865, when it merged with another rifle manufacturer, Sturm Ruger & Co., Inc., to form Sturm, Ruger & Co., Ltd.

Nashua is a small town in New Hampshire, just south of the Vermont border. It was founded in 1768 by white settlers and has remained a small community since then. In 1768, when George Washington arrived at Fort Halifax in present-day Portsmouth,NH he found that many of the native NH residents had moved westward into what is now Vermont because they could no longer find food or refuge from British forces stationed there. Washington ordered all Native Americans living east of the Connecticut River must leave within 10 days or be destroyed! This order led to many early fledglings moving westward into what is now New Hampshire – including some of the original settlers in what became known as "The Granite State". In 1802, when Robert Treat White changed his name to George Clinton (after King George II), he decided to change one letter from his initial G to an H so that his new name would sound more like America's first president: John Adams (John for short). As business opportunities grew more difficult back home in Great Britain during the Revolutionary War era, several people took up this challenge and opened successful mercantile businesses outside London – among them George Clinton himself (the grandson/son-in-law) with his store on High Street near today's headquarters for Dartmouth College – which quickly mushroomed into one of America's largest commerce enterprises at that time(see note below). When word spread about this budding business empire throughout North America via letters patent obtained by President John Adams under the Alien Land Act (a provision enacted during wartime emergency Measures), others soon followed suit; including prominent businessman Mercy Otterbein who set up shop on Main Street opposite today's post office building after hearing about it through her brother Samuel Pinkney(another signer/founder). By 1800 only a few hundred people lived scattered throughout northeastern NH; most being engaged primarily subsistence farming while large numbers worked transportation hubs like Manchester and Concord respectively as blacksmithsmiths or tailorsmiths.( see map below) . But slowly but surely over centuries many families migrated westward en masse until by 1870 only 1% still resided within boundaries defined prior thereto . Many did so due not onlyto better economic opportunities offered further west but also increasing political stability available therein following Revolution & American Civil War eras; such as abolitionist politics presence & growing antiwar sentiment among Northern voters .) During late 19th century onward various waves migration began anew targeting towns located along I-95 corridor expanding beyond region’s traditional agricultural society & industry base creating high class metropolitan areas; such as Boston MA (& Lowell MA); Hartford CT (& Norwich CT)); Philadelphia PA (& Trenton NJ)); Buffalo NY (& Rochester NY)); Cleveland OH (& Youngstown Ohio)). One notable exception was Natick MA which declined significantly despite efforts made by creator/promoter thereof attorney general Edwin Stanton making it one trend setting center for progressive reform during Progressive Era.; see map below) Overlooked until recently were significant contributions madeby early 20th century pioneers such as Reverend Nathaniel Hawthorne who settled northeast corner Of Amherst Valley near modern day Amherst Town Hall circa 1915; fatherof noted author Louisa May Alcott who lived adjacent To Haworthes Farm between 1916-1920& later wrote much acclaimed novel Forster County Revisited commemoratingAlcotts visit;; see photo below)
