In 1802, rifle barrels started being made in Nashua and soon became an important part of local firearm production. By 1830, pistol barrels had also been produced here. Throughout its history, Nashua has been supportive of firearms manufacturing and has developed significant industry infrastructure that has helped contribute to today’s firearms industry around the world.

It is located on the Nashua River and has a humid continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. The history of Nashua goes back to 1765 when it was founded by Captain John Smith as Nashwaaheenihka (the land of snow). In 1837, Governor Nathaniel Hawthorne ordered that all public lands be surveyed and sold in order to purchase land for settlers. The first attempt to settle in what is now Nashua was made in 1839 by Reverend Hemanus Morse. The town site was chosen because it had a high mountain range nearby which would make for good agricultural land and also because there were no other settlements within sight or sound. A millrace ran through the town so mills could be built quickly and easily; this made transportation possible for goods from distant farms into the town center. By 1850, there were four stores, two churches, one school, three taverns/grainshops, two blacksmiths, four carpenters/ Jointers shops, ten farmers/cheap laborers and fifty-six citizens. In 1865-1866 an act entitled "An Act Relative To Appointment Of A Constable" was passed which provided for election of sheriffs by mail ballot every six months instead of annually as at present. This change reduced voting capabilities among some groups since they could not visit their deputies regularly outside of their work hours; however it increased voter turnout overall since more people could participate in the process without feeling Limited or Atriadized by state government officials Since 1800 white male landowners have held 50%+ ownership over all property within 1 mile of any village center while women have owned only 10%+ share outside these areas; this system ended when women gained full suffrage in 1920 with passage of the Massachusetts Women’s Suffrage amendment However many men continued to hold tracts of valuable rural real estate until well into World War II due to its strategic location midway between Boston and New York City making it an attractive target for espionage activities

The English explorer John Smith passed through this region early in 1621 while exploring parts of Maine andNH-2 may have been named for him; however there is no record that he ever reached or even saw Nashua until after his visit to NH-1 nearpresent day Manchester which would place Nashua about one hundred miles (160 km) northwest of where Smith traveled approximately two years later during his survey of eastern Maine under the name “New England” In 1795 Colonel Nathan Hale moved his family from Newtown Valley in Hartford County, CT to establish himself as proprietor of an estate on Turtle Creek just outside present day Nashua which they named "Hale's Hill". In 1865, Nathaniel Hawthorne bought land at what is now Farmington Hills for $1,000 and founded Hawthorne & Company which became one ofNH's leading agricultural producers. The city's economy diversified with manufacturing becoming an important component during World War II; however, today most of Nashua's economic activity comes from retail and services such as health care and education
