During both wars, General Howe ordered Royal Army troops to march through town on their way to battle against Patriot forces near Freedom Hall outside Concord (now part of Hanscom Field Museum). The primary industry throughout most of its history has been farming; however, since mergers with other townships and counties aroundManchester beginning in 1959, many different types of businesses have established themselves within downtownMansfield's limits: health care services (CVS Pharmacy), restaurants ( Subway sandwich shop ), accounting firms ( KPMG LLP ), technology companies ( Googleplex ) and educational institutions such as Granite State College .
