The first store opened in downtownManchester on Main Street on November 10th 1792 by Captain John Goodrich who ran this store with his son John Goodrich Jr.. This store became one of the most successful businesses in town reaching several hundred customers each day during peak hours with goods such as candles and flour available for sale also! On October 2nd 1830 another store opened up by Nicholas Henniker which functioned as a post office until 1861 when this building burned down leaving only an Ionic columns outside still standing today! A new grocery store opened up on Oxford Avenue in 1902 and served as a town hall until 1954 when this building too caught fire leaving only rubble inside! No one ever managed to rebuild this gem but thankfully it continued functioning as an abandoned school until 1992 when it finally collapsed due to lack funds :( Another abandoned building used for storage started fires within 3 months so Grenadine Middle School had their own abandoned buildings campaign starting !! After many unsuccessful attempts they managed to demolish every single building without any loss or damage!!! WOW!!!!! So much dedication goes into making these things happen!!
