The town of Lebanon was chartered on February 14th, 1785 and the town of Manchester on January 1st, 1786. The first post office in Lebanon opened on November 20th, 1802. In 1821, the village of Tripoli merged with Lebanon and became a part of that town. On May 12th, 1828, both towns were combined into a single parish and renamed Lebanon-Manchester. On July 3rd, 1865, Manchester merged with Lebanon to form another larger town named Lebanon-New Hampshire.
