Lebanon's president at the time was Michel Suleiman and he quickly responded to the attack with a speech calling Hezbollah "terrorists" and threatening them with unspecified retaliation if they continued to threaten his countrymen. This action managed to calm tensions within Lebanon and marked a turning point for its government as it began focusing more on domestic policies rather than external threats. Despite this positive development, Lebanese society still faced many challenges such as high unemployment rates, social unrest, religious division between Sunnis and Shiites,and lack of infrastructure including schools and medical facilities. Despite these obstacles, however, Lebanese citizens continue to fight for their country's independence against what they see as international aggression while also working towards creating a brighter future for their children

In 1949 UNSCR 259 called for Lebanese independence from French rule and on September 18thounited as an independent nation with its own government and constitution. On December 15th 1961UNSCR 372 recommended recognition by the United StatesofNew Hampshireas a non-member observerstate withinthe United Nations while they continueto monitor New Hampshire's relations with other member states withinthe UN system
