Laconia is a town in Hampshire County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 753 at the 2010 census. Laconia is the smallest town in New Hampshire by land area and the second-smallest by population. The first settler of Laconia were two men, Capt. John Winslow and Josiah Noble, who arrived in 1765 from Portsmouth, NH. They built a small cabin on the site of what is now the Town Hall building. On July 1, 1769 they married Sarah Goodrich there and took up permanent residence in Laconia. In 1772 Nathaniel Eaton purchased the land east of present day Main Street from Capt. Winslow for $5 per acre (the original price being $15). He named his new settlement Eatonville after his father-in-law Benjamin Eaton who had settled near Manchester, NH in that year. On December 16th, 1800 Drury bought 640 acres north of Laconia from Nathaniel Eaton for $1 per acre (then worth about $1400 today). The primary use for this land was to provide pasture for cows which were then milked by Mrunalie Goodrich’s family until 1825 when it became part of what is now known as Greenfield College campus; however dairy production stopped completely around this time due to changing technology and other factors beyond our control! A post office called Laconia was established in 1802 and continued operations until 1903 when it was replaced by Dover; however mail continued to be delivered via horseback service until 1909 when an electric wire was installed between Dover and Laconia making this possible! For many years residents would leave their vegetables out front on their porch so people could come over to pick them up! In 1892 Mrs Gertrude Whitman donated land to become West Campus Extension which provided more than just academic access but also included a playing field as well as future buildings such as Science Hall & Library! Today this area still has its own police station complete with squad car!! In 1902 Henery Ahlborn donated 3 acres east of present day Main Street for School District #4 which became East Campus Extension later that same year! Today we have Yeshiva Torah Academy on our west side - one of America's oldest yeshivas!!!

Laconia, New Hampshire is a town in southeastern New Hampshire and part of the Manchester, NH metropolitan area. The population was 8,858 at the 2010 census. Laconia is located on the border of Hillsborough and Concord counties. The first people to live in what is now Laconia were the Pequot Indians who inhabited present-day eastern Hillsborough County and some of western Concord County before migrating west in 1634. From here they began trading with English settlers andbeginning construction of I-95 which passed through their territory as it crossed the Merrimack River nearpresent-day Laconia on its way to Boston. The first settler in what is now Laconia was Captain John Winthrop who came overland from England bearing news of a great land grant from colonial Governor John Winthrop that included most of present-day Hillsborough County. Captain Winthrop landed at Portsmouth on October 15, 1630, becoming one of the earliest white men to settle in what would become Laconia. By 1633 most of what would become Hillsborough County had been acquired by British colonists under grants from Plymouth Colony's Council for Trade with Foreign Nations (CTFNH). In pursuanceof CTFNH's policy of encouraging settlement among its citizens by granting lands eastward along Connecticut River which then formedthe northeastern edgeof present day Massachusetts, captain John Winthrop received a grant from CTFNH to build a house on High Street in1635 as part of an agreement between CTFNH and Plymouth Colony that aimed to promote trade between these two colonies." Captain John Winthrop's house still stands today - it is currently used as a private home by local residents. The early days were prosperous for both Captain John Winthrop and his family; he married into one of the most prominent families in town when he moved into his new home: Susanna Whitehead became mother-in-law to Increase Mather (a signerofthe First Amendment). Increase Mather was also an early promoterof education within this community - founding high school (now Middlebury college) and Gymnasium #1 (now Nashua Community College) shortly after moving herefrom Haverhill MA., where he had been educated at Harvard University . After leaving Haverhill ,Mather worked primarily as pastor at Charlestown Parish until his death in 1724 . Another early residentwas Samuel Holden who arrived around 1650 prior toHillsboroughCountyadoptionoftheNewEngland Constitutionandbecameoneofthestate legislatorsinthesouthwesternpartofthedisseastcountryduringthe mid 19th centurynamedafterhim – Sam Holden State Park has been established nearby commemorating this event
