Laconia, New Hampshire is a town in Franklin County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,719 at the 2010 census. Laconia is located on the Pequot Lakeshore National Wildlife Refuge. Laconia was first settled by English colonists in 1764 as part of what is now Franklin County. The town was founded on December 22, 1765 by order of King George III as a new post of governance for the area around modern-day Laconia and other settlements near Lake Winnipesaukee. The original name for Laconia was "Pequot", an anglicized form of the word "Pequeo". In 1812, when it became part of Franklin County, Laconia had a population of 100 people. By 1830 it had increased to 300 people and by 1840 to 400 people; however, during that time period it only served as a stop on stagecoach routes between Concord and Manchester. In 1846–47 Laconia joined with Nashua to form the Nashua Union Parish (later called Unity Parish) which included all but two towns in Franklin County east of Interstate 90: Dover and Amherst. That year saw one of America's largest waves of immigration: more than 10 thousand Germans began moving westward from their homes in southern Germany into what is now New England during the Transcendentalist migration wave. By 1870 most German-born residents had moved away from Laconia because there were few jobs available hereabouts for them; however several families who remained have kept some descendants today as local farmers and merchants. This period also saw significant growth in lumbering activity due to the rise in prices for wood products resulting from cheap natural gas supplied bycanals dug through much of central New England during this time period; consequently many structures built during this time include large quantities of locally quarried stone materials used inside and outside walls or rooflines.. In response Roosevelt created both Yosemite National Park located east of Yosemite Valley which includes Half Dome Village(the village has since reverted back To its pre-rift condition))and Grand Teton National Park located west side Easthampton Township including Teton Village(the village has since reverted back To its pre-rift condition)). These parks were not meant strictly for public use but more so provide scenic opportunities enjoyed by tourists seeking beautiful scenery within easy reach without having to go far off interstate highways

A year later it annexed neighboring unincorporated communities Easton and Weston along with several small villages including Addison, Bentleyville, Beechboro, Bradfordville, Carrington Center (now White Hills), Conway Brook Farm (now Westbrook), Downingtown (now Woonsocket), Gardnerstown (now Goffstown), Hardwick Falls (now Andover), Killingworth Pond (), Littleton Farms (), Moulton sets (), Newton Centre (), Northglenns Plains () In 1916 Laconia voters approved a referendum calling for a new high school system within the city limits; this system was eventually established as NHHSLUTD-New England High Schools
