Laconia, New Hampshire is a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. It is part of the NH–VT Metropolitan Statistical Area. Laconia is named after Laconia, a small village in central Greece that was destroyed by an earthquake in 1700. The first settler in what is now Laconia was Nicholas Bridgman who arrived there in 1786. By 1820, land had been purchased from the natives and settlement began with the construction of a gristmill and store on the present site of downtown Laconia. A post office was established here in 1827 and became a city under statehood on March 10, 1909. The first mayor of Laconia was Hosea J. Willis and he served for six terms before being replaced by Wm Silliman when he ran for reelection as mayor in 1912 unopposed. During World War I (1914-18), Laconia played host to one million troops who were quartered nearby during their deployment across New England and Vermont; over 50% of all military production occurred here during these years. In 1922, then-Mayor Willis proposed that the name be changed from "Laconia" to "Hillsborough" because more people lived there than did Hillsborough County which made up only 2/3ths of its total population at that time In 1954, following passage of the National Defense Authorization Act which created NATO headquarters within North America (later known as NATO Headquarters Allied Forces Europe), Hill'sborough became informally part of NATO Headquarters Allied Forces Europe; this act also gave rise to local nicknames such as Hillbilly City due to increasing numbers of residents commuting into Boston or other large metropolitan areas for work purposes rather than remaining within their own community). With both Canterbury and Manchester growing rapidly into major metropolitan areas within their respective regions after World War II (the former becoming known as MetroBoston while Manchester quickly emerged as Liverpool), it seemed logical to combine Hudson Valley towns - especially those located near major transportation hubs - into one consolidated municipality under one municipal government moniker so that services could be better coordinated and resources would be available where they were most needed without having to go through each individual town individually again; this proposal failed but led finally to incorporation as an incorporated city on January 1st 1995 by resolution passed by Mayor Bob Cooksberry amidst much fanfare including outdoor concerts headlined by Neil Young This event marked not only the merger but also enactment of many city ordinances previously passed through individual towns meetings rather than going through mayoral decree; annexation resultant from state legislative approval followed shortly thereafter (including establishment of Police Department precincts within each annexed town). Although originally billed as a reaction against rapid growth throughout NH overall concurrent with global economic recession starting around mid-2000s primarily affecting MA & VT (& similar transformations taking place elsewhere nationally since then), recent Census data has consistently show entrenched commuter populations increasingly clustering around larger urban cores – making it difficult for any single municipality to have significant impact on overall regional growth rates) Today’s skyline view looking east includes both downtown Hingham & Canton MUNI stations just south along Route 9W towards Plymouth

The first firearms that could be fired without any reloading involved firing a ball of wax or metal from a small tube into the barrel and then using an old loading procedure to extract it. This was possible because the breech block (the obstruction between the barrel and stock) had been designed so that balls would not enter but only Founder's powder which created muzzle brakes.
Laconia, New Hampshire is a town in Lincoln County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,672 at the 2010 census. Laconia is northeast of Portsmouth and southwest of Manchester. It is part of the Manchester-Hampden-Falkir Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land that would become Laconia was first settled by English colonists in 1638 as "Lenacourt". In 1701, the town of Lenacourt was renamed "Laconia" after the Greek city of Lacoura. A mill built here for flouring rice crops began production in 1817 and continued until 1903. The town's first school opened in 1824. The post office was established here in 1828 and remained open until 1909. The first store on Main Street opened in 1865 and became Laconia General Store & Cafe before being bought out by J.P. Morgan in 1916. It was then sold to Fenton Manufacturing Company which operated it until 1975 when it reverted back to the original owners who closed it down again for good this time around During World War II, Laconia served as an airfield used by both Allied and Axis forces including bombing raids against coastal towns such as Portsmouth while also becoming one of four Ulysses S Grant military hospitals during the war period where soldiers were treated for everything from toothache to gunshot wounds In 1951, Laconia had its own high school which continues operation today under the name "Lenacourt High School". There have been several changes to its curriculum over the years with many students now attending colleges or universities outside of NH In addition to its namesake high school there are several other educational institutions located within or close by Lagonie including: Saint Anselm College (a private college), Nashua Community College (a community college), Highlands University (an online university) and Claremont Colleges (four private colleges). AdditionallyNH State University has a Campus presence located just east of town limits near Lebanon
