Since 1934, Keene has had an official policy against civilians dischargeing firearms within 100 yards of any school or playground without prior written consent from both parents or guardians (currently 14 days). As part of this policy, officers are constantly patrolling these areas looking for violators. Additionally, anyone who has been convicted or adjudicated delinquent on a felony charge involving firearm possession is ineligible to possess a handgun until they have completed 1 year probation followed by 4 years registration as an instant disqualification from owning a pistol/shotgun/ammunition device(s)
