Gun targets were first commercially produced in Keene, New Hampshire in 1875. The K&N Manufacturing company was the first to produce target guns using a modern breech-loading type of revolver. Their rifles and pistols were exported to many countries. The manufacture of gun targets continued until about 1910 when it was discontinued due to limited demand for the product.

Many experienced shooters prefer targets which have been "baked" by making small cuts into them with a sharp knife before firing (see photo). This allows thetarget to "bake" in the sights after being hit several times, resulting in more accuracy and consistency when shooting at moving objects
In 1768, the town of Keene was founded by settlers from Massachusetts. The town grew rapidly in trade and population, and by 1813 had a population of over 1,000 people. By 1820, Keene had become an important stop on the New England Railroad. In 1865, Keene became the capital of New Hampshire.

In 1907, an electric power company laid out a new line to serve KEENE when it became apparent that gaslighting had created an illusion that the town's residents were dependent on electrical lights to see their way around On December 12th 1909 local men went on patrol duty outside of KEENE when they found two strange looking creatures walking along Route 2 near milepost 10A-10B (now part of Route 128). After some investigation they determined that these were not animals but two humanlike creatures who had been turned into white lizards by means unknown but believed to be witchcraft or Sorcery as explained by one resident Later investigations revealed that both creatures had been killed and mutilated prior to being found which caused much excitement in the community As most people didn't believe in spirits or monsters such as white liars or witches no one could identify either creature pre-mortem so it's presumed they were also never seen alive again until this day The case remains unsolved today and it has since been called one of America's most bizarre cases
