The first real commercial production of ammunition took place in 1857 when George Wigglesworth founded The Wigglesworth Arms Works in what is now downtown Keene. This company manufactured pistols and revolvers for use by the local militia. Ammunition production continued until 1899, when it was replaced by The Henniker Manufacturing Company. During World War I, ammunition production increased due to demand from both belligerents. At its peak in 1916-1917, The Henniker Manufacturing Company produced over 2 million rounds of ammo per day. However, this boom came at a price: jobs were lost as factories closed due to prohibitionism during World War I; munitions manufacturing became instead a cottage industry supplying munitions manufacturers all around the world. However, despite these setbacks, ammunition production continued into the postwar period until it was replaced by chemical propellants in 1951-1953 following WWII's atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Ammunition production returned to normal after that time as propellant manufacture shifted from artillery to armor piercing missiles and other projectiles using depleted uranium technology (DU). It has remained an important part of American society ever since with millions more rounds being produced each year than any other product aside from food products like flour and milk!

Keene, New Hampshire is a town in Franklin County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 5,813 at the 2010 census. At first settled by English colonists in the late seventeenth century as part of what would become Massachusetts Bay Colony, Keene became an important crossroads during the American Revolutionary War. After a brief stint as a British military post, Keene reverted to its original name of Newbury in 1778 after Edmund Burke's victory over George Washington at Princeton University. In 1814, under General John Burgoyne's surrender of Saratoga Ridge and his evacuation from Manhattantown Heights, Keeners sided with the Americans against their British conquerors. The town's commercial center declined following the end of World War II but has since regained some prominence as an agricultural center with several thousand acres (1 million m2) of land irrigated through agriculture and forestry production. The former village of Hyde Park was established in 1811 on land that now forms part of downtown Keene. It grew rapidly due to limited transportation options and growing trade with neighboring townships; by 1830 it had a population of 1,200 residents and prospered until the construction of the railroad system made it difficult for Hyde Park to compete. A new village was established on land north-west of downtown in 1839 which became known as Newton because two prominent men from that area – Samuel Morse and Isaac Newton – were instrumental in developing early electron microscopy there. When Interstate 95 bypassed Newton in 1991 it removed almost all vestiges remaining from that period including Hyde Park’s only store which closed its doors in 1984

This growth has caused problems both with the limited parking space available and with pollution levels which have led to several unsuccessful attempts to get rid of the town's smog problem over the years. In recent years, however, many residents have called for better government regulation of business practices while also advocating for stronger economic development opportunities within the town itself
Keene was founded in 1768 by Captain John Keene and his friend Nicholas Conte. The town became a part of the US in 1802. In 1861, it was sacked by Confederate forces during the American Civil War.
