In 1859, Concord was founded as a town in Hampshire County, New Hampshire. The first target stand in Concord was built by Capt. John Fenton in 1859 and lasted until 1865. The first shooting range located in Concord opened on the Greenfield Road near the present day Nashua Business Park in 1916. Today, there are several shooting ranges located throughout Concord including the old Garrison Range which is now used for training police officers. In 1984, the American Legion established an annual marksmanship competition at their meeting barn which is still held today with over 400 shooters from across New England participate each year.

Concord, New Hampshire (population: 7,854) is a town in Franklin County, New Hampshire, United States. Concord was founded by the Pilgrims in 1620 as part of the settlement of Plymouth Colony. The current town was recognized as a separate incorporated village by an act of the New Hampshire Legislature on November 15, 1892. As of the 2010 census, Concord had a population of 7,554. The racial makeup of Concord as reported by the US Census Bureau was 98% white and 2% black. The first Europeans to come to Concord were the Pilgrims in 1620 who built a small cabin at present-day North King Street and Providence Road. From this location they began to trade with Native Americans and sell goods including maize and salt pork from their ship "Plymouth". In 1626 John Winthrop became its first Mayor and his wife Katherine played an important role in helping make Concord into an official community with land grants from English authorities. In 1630 Samuel Swayne arrived with his family from England and set up a small farm east of present-day Westown Road on what is now South King Street. By 1700 most residents in precincts surrounding Boston had moved away or died out except for some families that kept their homes until after independence when they too left for various reasons including warring factions within Massachusetts during that period. In 1777 troops under General Gage burned down much ofBoston without warning leaving behind many houses which were razed to the ground like many other Dutch villages along similar lines such as Fort Ticonderoga (1777). Many people were displaced due to this event which has been cited as one cause leading to mass migration acrossstate lines among European colonists during that period especially among those living around Boston’s southern boundary where large tracts remained unoccupied following Gage’s rampage. "Concord" derives its name from "conger", meaning 'to stir up'. This nomenclature probably originated with early settlers who encountered cattle grazing nearpresent-day North King Street."

As Concord grew rapidly there was need for more space so two farms adjoining each other on both sides river reached cleared area west side canal - these lands being known today collectively as Pioneer Fields.
