Concord became an incorporated city in 1855 and has since been the seat of county government for New Hampshire. The population of Concord was 54,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Manchester-by-the-Sea, NH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers to what is now Concord were farmers who traveled from Dover down the Merrimack River to look for land to farm. In 1701, Reverend John Dunster and his wife Deborah arrived in what is now Concord with two families and began settlement. The couple soon married and moved into a house on State Street which they built together from boards scavenged from local construction sites. They started a small grocery store, but it failed within six months because there wasn’t enough business traffic around here to warrant such a large building. In 1704, Reverend JohnDunster purchased 640 acres (2 km²) of land north of present day Coventry along with other Congregational ministers like Samuel Adams and Ebenezer Channing who had also emigrated to North America seeking religious freedom under King George II’s new America policy which aimed at crushing Catholicism throughout British colonies across North America including North Carolina where Dunster had previously served as minister of religion under British governor Sir Nicholas Carteret in 1692-93 whenCarteret fought against English colonists during the Pequot War). These events led to Dunster forming his own Congregational church called Christ Church where he preached until his death in 1724 aged 78 years old after serving as its pastor for more than 40 years! The original name of this church may have been “Churchills” but due to French influence on early Congregationalists here at home (and some still practicing today), their name changed eventually becoming “Congregationalist” or just simply “Congregational” though occasional reference would be made back then even if no specific change happened so as not too stir up any controversy! This churchyard still contains many pieces from the original Congregationalist building erected circa 1702-3 including three pews each side inside an octagonally shaped wooden frame with carved capitals above them; one chiseled panel measuring 2 ft (61 cm) high surmounted by a conical spire measuring 6 ft 7 in (2 m) high features an inscription reading: “Erected by JNO DENSTER Esqr Septembrie A Dni Novembre 1700 / In memory of himself & Mrs DENSTERS Daughter Sarah [DUNSTER] / In memory OF SAMUEL ADAMS Juniper [ADAMS] Octavius [OCTAVIUS] Anno Domini 1715 / MDCCLXXXVI / REV JNO DUNSTER MRS DEBORAH WILKESDALE junto WITH HER DAUGHTER SARAH ANNE DODGE Novitatisima Annorum 1800" . This stone can be found facing south on lot number 3A located off Main Street between Meeting House Road and Park Avenue east of High School! A plaque dedicated to Reverend John Dunster can be found next door on lot number 3B opposite meetinghouse road! As early as 1692 Governor Carteretarian forces successfully repelled English colonists attempting unsuccessfully to establish themselves inland alongNH border near present day Durham County NY !! However, following successful royal proclamation dated 10 Mar 1692 setting out "An Act For Erection Of Fortiori Parish Within And adjacent To Our Colony Of Rhode Island Trading With Great Britain" colony key leaders Francisco Vazquez de Corrientes(Governor/Captain General), Simon Bolivar(President/Chief Justice) & Bartholomew Overton(Admiral commanding general) decided that instead we'll established ourselves inland much closer towards Boston - northeast corner parcel included herein situated about Twenty Mile square And bounded on East By Onset Of A Hill Which Is Known As Bunker Hill Whereupon We laid Down our Arms And formed ourselves into Company Called The Royal Regiment Of Mountedemen From thenceforward known As The Royal Regiment Of Connecticut Volunteers There being Not One Person Excepting Us Who Refused To Join Our Regiment At That Time !! After some debate among our company officers over whether or not we should erect Fortiori we voted unanimously AGAINST IT!!!
