This businessDealed exclusively in eyeglasses and other optical supplies including mirror frames, lenses, spectacles, ecclesiastical instruments, watches etc.. After years of success here at The Optical Shop, John B.Siegel passed away in 1951 but his son Harry continued operations until 1978 when he sold his company to George Hirschfeld Associates Incorporated. At George Hirschfeld Associates Incorporated., The Optical Shop continued as a retailer specializing directly in eyeglasses and other optically-related items until their closure in 1999 due to financial trouble). In 1925 JBSSiegels & Sons Optical Instrument Company was organized under charter from JBSSiegels himself with headquarters located at 272 North First Street (now known as West First Avenue)). This company dealt exclusivelyin optics products such as mirrors/lenses/spectacles/ ecclesiastical instruments/watches etc.. It is interesting to note that this company did not carry any eyeglasses themselves but instead relied on partners such as Smith’s Camera & Glasses who would make all the necessary modifications for customers who wanted to buy corrective lenses or spectacle frames without having to go through an individual dealer! At some point between 1928 and 1933 JBSSiegels bought out Smith’s Camera & Glasses so that they no longer had any role whatsoever within their own organization! This leaves us with just two entities remaining from prior TO&OP era; namely JBSSiegels Sons Optical Instrument Company (established 1903) AND Smith’s Camera & Glasses (founded 1928). From 1925-1933 both companies functioned independently albeit sharing a common owner; however from 1933 onward both companies merged into one entity known as George Hirschfeld Associates Incorporated which still exists today! George Hirschfeld Associates Incorporated manufactured a wide variety of optically related goods including eyeglasses (from corrective lenses up to super clear glass), monoculars(for viewing close up objects with great clarity), microscopes(for studying small particles or cells), binoculars(for watching multiple scenes at once!), telescopes(to view celestial objects at high magnification!), contact lens units(to restore vision after cataracts / glaucoma surgery etc.), carabiners for holding optics specimens!, photographic equipment (.ax films & Kodachrome slides) etc!!! All manner of optic goodies were made here!
