Sparks, Nevada is a small town located in Clark County, Nevada. The population was 3,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Las Vegas- Henderson metropolitan area. Sparks began as a stagecoach stop on the route linking Las Vegas and Reno. In 1868, gold was discovered in the area and mining operations began. A post office was established in 1870 and by 1862, Sparks had a population of 150 residents. The first school in Sparks opened in 1872 and by 1889, there were five schools in the community. By 1915, there were twenty-one schools in Sparks with a total enrollment of 2,600 students. In 1925, an irrigation canal was built through Sparks to convey water from the White River south to Las Vegas. This Provided much needed irrigation for agriculture and industry in la County during those years before it became fully rural until the early 1970s when an Interstate 10 bypass eliminated most access to surface water resources making irrigation necessary again which has resulted since then into increased reliance on groundwater recharge projects that have helped keep Sparks’ economy afloat over time The earliest reference to sparks comes from Juan Ortiz who wrote about finding “a New World beyond our own” while exploring near present day Enterprise Boulevard east of downtown las vegas on may 5th 1775 A Spanishman named Francisco Vásquez de Arcos visited this areaMay 6th 1775 He brings some valuable items back with him including nails nickled together like silver dollars (later authenticated as such) so spurs further explorationWhat we know now about this place from its history is that it served as transportation hub between lasvegas and Reno,, surrounding areas,,and finally greenwood ranch which overlooked central valley

Sparks, Nevada is a small town located in Clark County, Nevada. The population was 2,798 at the 2010 census. Sparks was founded on November 4, 1879 by J.D. Richardson and Wm H. Pryor as a trading post and wagon stop on the Oregon Trail between Fort Bridger and Mormon City. The name of the town derives from an incident that took place there on October 30, 1879 when three travelers were robbed at gunpoint by Indians who thought they were Americans traveling through their territory looking for gold mines. The first store in Sparks was built in 1881 by John Bigham and Fannie Crouse. A post office was established in 1882, and became known as Sparks until 1907 when it changed its name to Reno because of the location of Reno Springs adjacent to the post office. In 1909, the town incorporated under a constitution and adopted a flag which featured a whiteUnion jack with red stripes running down each side
Sparks was founded in 1859 by George Washington Sparks. The town is located in southern Nevada, approximately 20 miles east of Reno. It became a city in 1911 and was incorporated as a municipality in 1912. In 1958, it merged with the neighboring town of Reno to form the current city of Reno-Sparks.
