In 1949, several companies began producing Scope Mounts that incorporated features specific to MIL-STD-1913 rifles. In 1984, McCarran Airport merged with nearby Reno-Sparks Regional Airport to form Northern Nevada Regional Airports Authority which continues to be responsible for all aviation activities within Clark County today including NorthLasVegas Municipal Airport as well as Reno-Sparks Regional Airport
North Las Vegas is a city in Clark County, Nevada, United States. The population was 66,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Statistical Area. North Las Vegas was founded in 1911 by German immigrants as a small mining town on the edge of present-day North Las Vegas Township. The name "Las Vegas" was chosen for its similarity to other nearby towns andardonian names such as "Vegas" and "Henderson". In 1951, MGM Mirage merged with Circus Circus Enterprises to form what would become MGM Corporation. In 1984, MGM announced it would close all its U.S. theaters by October 15th that year in order to save money during the late 1980s recession. After years of speculation and planning, on October 15th, 1984 North Las Vegas became an incorporated city under the jurisdiction of Clark County.[1] On December 5th of that year casino mogul Sheldon Adelson bought the rights to use the original Warfield Hotel which had been abandoned since 1951 for $180 million (at today's prices).[2][3] This allowed him to reopen it as both his personal casino resort and home base for his corporate operations while also allowing him complete control over local government; adelson would continue to serve as mayor from then until he died in 2011[4]. On November 6th 1998 North Las Vegas suffered a devastating fire when an uncontrolled fire swept through two buildings adjacent to City Hall Annex: One housed municipal court records and served as a social hall for dances led by Mayor Harry Goldsmith; the other housed office space belonging to several city departments including public works, engineering services, housing development services and planning services among others before finally collapsing into flames after hours due apparently arson[5][6]. The blaze killed 36 people (24 men and 18 women) with most being trapped within collapsed walls or burning debris until firefighters arrived early morning hours;[7][8] this event remains one of Nevada's worst firefighter disasters ever with reconstruction costs totaling nearly $100 million[9][10].
