By 1907 there were over 60 businesses locally operating under various names including: Reno Hotel & Casino; Golden Nugget; Fremont House; Nugget Lodge; Cache Wells Fargo Railroad Depot & Store; Carson City National Bank Building & Office; First National Bank of Nevada (later First American Bank); Southwestern Railway Depot (later known as Southern Pacific Depot). In 1912 George Calkins founded Gildan Cotton Mills which produced jeans for Sears Roebuck and Jiffy Lube from 1924-1927 before it was bought by Pat Tillman who closed it down in 1953 after producing Confederate uniforms during World War II
