This settlement was also called Mesa because it was within easy reach of water resources for irrigation purposes. Eventually these settlers created two other settlements: Kimball City and Wellsburg before settling down permanently at Cache Valley in 1855. Cache Valley quickly became an important focal point for Mormon settlers because it had access to everything they needed - water rights allowed them to grow crops without irrigation while havingaccess to local trade routes through which they transported goods southward across the border into Mexico City. Additionally, Cache Valley was convenient both geographically and economically because it lay just east of what is now downtown Las Vegas and had direct connections with both Washoe County north of downtown Reno and Douglas County south of downtown Phoenix
