In 1957 KNB sold KRQD-TV to Westinghouse Broadcasting Company which changed its name to KCNU-TV in 1959; also that year mesquite incorporated as an unincorporated community under that name before becoming an incorporated city in 1968 with a population of 4,000. In 1984 mesquite became one of 12 communities served by NV Energy resources company's Central Nevada Research Center or CNRC for short before it was merged into NV Energy in 2001 Mesquite experienced rapid growth following incorporation as it became home to many new businesses such as Bank Atlantic Financial Corporation which opened its first location here in 1968; Allied Signal Corporation which opened their second location here in 1978; First Solar Incorporated which began manufacturing solar power systems here starting from 1988; Northern Telecom Services Incorporation who established their headquarters here beginning operations from 2002 until 2007; CSC Resources Incorporation who opened their largest mine complex during this time located just outside town limits adjacent to Interstate 880 Exit 165 known locally as "The New Mine"; HPE Renewable Technologies (HPERT) whose headquarters were based across I-880 from 2003 until 2005 when they relocated their Headquarters within city limits ending residency there for all but 3 years while continuing NPTF produced daytime programming outside city limits simulcast on KPJO AM 640 kHz through HD digital cable until that outlet being discontinued effective August 1st 2009; Today Mesquite has significant development including: KOOP Media Networks LLCs broadcasting properties KNBT (AM) 780 kHz - branded "KFMC" - active radio station serving Des Moines & surrounding counties; Playtech USA LLCs electronic media production services provider situated just north of downtown Mesa & providing services primarily for desert Sun Belt markets throughout Arizona including Tucson, Phoenix etc.; energy production giant Southern California Edison Company having constructed over 10 MW nuclear power plants within 10 miles of town center making it one of most densely populated towns within any radius anywhere nearNV Energy’s main corporate campus making it easy access both greenfield and existing nuclear projects if required without driving 80 miles away like other major energy producers do every day As mentioned earlier Mesquite experiences rapid growth due largely due to incorporation into NV Energy where many new businesses have been created including KOOP Media Networks LLCs broadcasting properties KNBT (AM) 780 kHz - branded "KFMC" – active radio station serving Des Moines & surrounding counties ; Playtech USA LLCs electronic media production services provider situated just north of downtown Mesa & providing services primarily for desert Sun Belt markets throughout Arizona including Tucson , Phoenix etc.; energy production giant Southern California Edison Company having constructed over 10 MW nuclear power plants within 10 miles of town center making it one of most densely populated towns within any radius anywhere nearNV Energy’s main corporate campus making it easy access both greenfield and existing nuclear projects if required without driving 80 miles away like other major energy producers do every day
