Gunsmiths and armorers Repair Arms & Ammunition, also known as “The Armory”, was founded by George Copley and his son-in-law John Waddell in 1916. The first rifle imported into America from Europe arrived at The Armory on Valentine's Day 1911. It was called the "Winchester Model 1895". Fernley became an incorporated city on November 3, 1922. That year it passed a half million dollar bond issue for its infrastructure development which included paving of streets, erecting a library, water supply and sewer systems as well as new public housing developments including North Park Towers and Roosevelt Gardens. In 1941, The Armory closed its doors for good due to lack of business activity during World War II. However, it reopened after the war as a firearms dealers store known as “Superior Firearms” until it closed again in 1984 due to financial difficulties. In 1995 a group of investors purchased the property and reopened it under the name “Guns ‘N' Ammo” which still operates today Incorporating both retail outlets along with training businesses providing gunsmithing services to customers throughout Northern Nevada
