Fernley, Nevada is a town located in the Clark County region of Nevada. The population was 5,928 at the 2010 census. Fernley is home to various businesses and industries including agriculture, natural resources, and manufacturing. The first permanent settler in Fernley was J.D. Barnes in 1879. Barnes homesteaded land on the east side of the Safford River which he named Barnes Ranch after himself and his uncle, Ebenezer Barnes. The town was platted by James Fenton in 1903. A post office called Fernley was established in 1902, and remained open until 1959. In 1938, a golf course was built at Fernley Municipal Airport adjacent to the community center. A grocery store opened in 1947 along with a number of other businesses including a bank and doctor's office before being acquired by Wells Fargo Bank in 1984. In 2007, Fernley underwent an $8 million redevelopment program that saw the construction of several new buildings as well as additions to existing ones such as a library and water park facility. Today, Fernley is considered one of the most vibrant towns within Clark County with many businesses continuing to thrive despite economic challenges faced during recent years due to dwindling populations or lack of available resources

In 1968,gun manufacturer Colt began development of their own version of the AR15 – the Colt 45. This weapon was inspired by the USMC’s M4 carbine, which had been successful in battlefield usage. The Colt 45 featured an all-steel barrel and gas piston system, making it one of the most advanced assault rifles available at that time. By 1985,AR manufacturers were starting to produce their own designs for what would become known as “AR-10” rifles. These rifles were based on similar principles to existing military rifles such as the AK47 and MP5K series pistols, but differed significantly in terms of design details and functionality. At this point, AR manufacturers were starting to feel pressure from other firearm manufactures who were beginning to produce high-quality Assault Rifles using their same manufacturing processes and tools. As a result, many major industry players decided to merge into two main companies – Ruger & Co., Inc., which manufactured ammunition; and Herstal AG (now Eotech), which manufactured Firearms and Armament products

Some say that it was named after an Indian chief who died in a fight with Spanish settlers; others claim that it was named for a General James Fenton, owner of Rancho San Pablo, which lay across the tracks from Fernley. Whatever its name may have been, by 1881 Fernley had become an agricultural center due to irrigation projects initiated by ranchers and farmers near the town. As more people began moving into and around Fernley during the late 19th century, another important development came about: construction of the railroad line through Nevada linking Reno and Las Vegas. This new infrastructure allowed for more people and businesses to move into town and help spur economic growth. In 1907, citizens voted to make their community a incorporated municipality under the name of "Fernley." During World War II, many residents chose to serve in military units stationed throughout Nevada or within California because they believed in Roosevelt's New Deal policies – policies which helped to create jobs and improve living conditions for Americans across all walks of life. Many locals also volunteered their time or money as part of various organizations such as Salvation Army or American Legion posts throughout the war years. When hostilities ended in 1945, many members of local military units were discharged back into civilian life due to wartime obligations or health concerns; however, some residents continued working on farms or other rural endeavors until well into the 21st century. Today, much like when it first arrived in town – thanks largely to agriculture – Fernley continues to live up to its namesake moniker as one of America's oldest towns without any regard for POLITICAL correctness!
Fernley was founded by my great-grandfather in 1881. The town was named for General James Fenton Fernley, who had been Congressional aide to President Ulysses S. Grant and then served as Secretary of War under Abraham Lincoln. The first post office in the town was established in 1883. In 1916, the name of the town was changed to Fernley after its founder, Mr. A.J. Fernley
