At that time it was one of only two buildings remaining standing in downtown Boulder City after being destroyed by fire over forty years ago! In 1931-1932 Fenton Carney developed what today is known as McGee Boulevard which ran through downtown Boulder City between First Street and Second Street; this boulevard extended all the way to Overland Road near today's Village Square shopping center! Garnering attention when it opened were its innovative features such as each block having an open space within it with a fountain or other public feature - quite unlike anything currently found in most American cities! This street grid layout remains largely unchanged to this day! Today there are few if any businesses left existing inside downtown Boulder City since redevelopment has taken place around Highway 192/McGee Boulevard making life much more difficult for pedestrians & cyclists who must navigate around cars driving down side streets not long before reaching their destination! However some notable exception include "The Bookstore", operated by local author Pamela Stockett since 1978;[6] independent bookstore An librium [7];[8] and Bob Hope Federal Building Preserve & Museum,[9][10] all situated on McGee Boulevard just north of Interstate 40/McGee Boulevard exit onto I-40 Business Loop - providing visitors with significant insight into early 20th century American culture including movies like Gone With The Wind[11][12][13]

By World War II, Boulder City had become one of the largest American cities in terms of population.During the 1960s and 1970s, Boulder City suffered from heavy injection-site contamination from wells used for oil production in nearby Las Vegas.
