South Sioux City is a city in Nebraska, United States. The population was 795 at the 2010 census. It is the principal city of the South Sioux City, NE Micropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 1,362 as of 2013. The first settlers in what is now South Sioux City were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who arrived in 1868 from Utah and found a land grant from President Abraham Lincoln. They named their town after their bishopric (later called The First Presidency) headquartered in Salt Lake City. Settlers began to arrive in large numbers during the late 19th century, with many coming directly from Iowa or California. By 1900, many people had moved into what is now South Sioux City following railroads that connected it to Omaha and other cities throughout Nebraska and Kansas. In 1907, South Sioux City became a municipality when it was combined with neighboring Kearney to form the Kearney–South SiouxCity Municipal District. In 1912, residents approved an ordinance establishing public schools within its boundaries and this led to the construction of two high Schools – Mission High School (now known as Harding Middle School) and North Central High School (now known as Northrop Grumman High School). These schools are still in use today as premier educational institutions for students in South Sioux City. Nevertheless, it helped pave the way for future softgun cases designs which were more user-friendly and practical. During World War II, many Americans became interested in shooting handguns as part of their military service. This led to new Soft Gun Cases designs being created which were specifically designed for handguns. One such design is called “The Pistol Soft Case” (1946). It was created by Dick Tracy creator Will Eisner and featured an exposed spring steel frame with a comfortable leather coverings around the outside perimeter of the frame. The coverings prevented scratches or dents caused by handling pistols during transport or storage. The Pistol Soft Case also included several compartments inside its structure that allowed users to store various types of handguns within easy reach while they traveled or served their country side-by-side with other members of their military unit!

South Sioux City, Nebraska is a city in Lincoln County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 30,562 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest city in Lincoln County and the second-smallest city in Nebraska. The first inhabitants of what is now South Sioux City were Native Americans who lived there for centuries before European settlement began. The area that is now South Sioux City was part of the Omaha Indian Reservation until 1854 when it was ceded to Nebraska by US President James K. Polk as part of the Treaty of Fort Laramie. In 1863, troops under General John Fetterman burned down a temple near present day South Sioux City after an Indian raid resulted in the death of several white men and their families. This event has been called "the most publicized battle on American soil".[1] South Sioux City served as both a military post and trading post during much of its early history. In 1883 it became the capital of Lincoln County and remained so until 1907 when Lincolnton became the county seat. In 1912, following passage of Kansas–Nebraska Act 2 (1896), which granted statehood to Nebraska, South Sioux City became one of four cities in Nebraskan Territory (later Oklahoma) to be admitted into that state as well as receive special privileges such as representation on its legislature and exemption from town meeting requirements. It remained an independent city through all these changes until 1959 when it merged with neighboring Lincolnton to form one municipality with a combined population of over 30,000 people – making it one of only two cities (the other being Wichita Falls, Texas) in Nebraska with this large metropolitan area designation prior to statehood in 1907.
