During its early years, South Sioux City experienced some turbulence due to its location on two major railroad lines: the Omaha &Council Bluffs Railroad (now Union Pacific) and Coal Creek Railway (now Burlington Northern). However, these challenges only served to spur growth within the community and help create stability which would remain throughout many years.
