This mill continued production until 1913 when it went out of business due to competition from larger mills south of Omaha. The original mill building still stands today as a historic landmark known as "The Old Mill". The town grew slowly during its early years due to lack of transportation and other resources such as water power and irrigation systems being developed nearby. However, after World War II came various waves of migrants coming to find work opportunities in new markets overseas; this increased population growth brought about new housing developments throughout the 1950s-1970s which created more jobs for locals who had less access to education or opportunity than their predecessors.
