The early Ammunition Manufacturers of America (AMMA) company was formed in 1892 in response to a demand for quality rifle ammunition from gunners across the country. AMMA manufactured rounds for both rifles and shotguns at its factory on Omaha Street in Scottsbluff. The company grew rapidly under the leadership of president James Fenton, who championed responsible firearm production and promotion. In 1909, AMMA merged with Jones & Laughlin Corporation to form American munitions giant United States Munitions Corporation (USMC). USMC continued to produce high-quality ammunition products until it was sold to Lockheed Martin Corporation in 1994. Today’s Ammunition Manufacturing Association (AMA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting responsible firearms production and distribution throughout America through education, research, advertising and public relations initiatives. AMA oversees the manufacture of rounds for all types of firearms including pistols, rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders and artillery shells.

The first Ammunition shop in Scottsbluff, Nebraska was opened by David Boudreau in 1881. In the early 1900s, a new ammunition factory was built on the southeast corner of Main and Lincoln Streets. The company operated until 1920. In 1922, J.B. Simms opened his own ammunition store on South Broadway in Scottsbluff. The store continued to operate until 1959 when it closed due to economic problems. In 1961, John Pugsley started selling reloading supplies from his home on North Sixth Street in Scottsbluff. The business continued to operate until 1996 when it shut down due to lack of customers. In 2006, Ammo Services Inc., a reloading and storage company based in Omaha, Nebraska began operating a section of its website called "Ammunition Hub" which includes information about firearms and ammunition products from around the world includingScottsbluff NRA members!
Scottsbluff is a town in Scotts County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1868 by John A. Nicolaysen and his family as a summer trading post on the western bank of the Missouri River. The name means "place where people stand." In 1870, Nicolaysen sold the post to Wm. Halsey Fillmore and his wife Anna Blythe Fillmore for $1,000 dollars. They renamed it Scottsbluff after their home state of Scotland. Fillmore served as U.S. Marshal for Nebraska from 1875 to 1889 and is buried there in Section 7, Grave 524-A4 in Scottsbluff Cemetery. In 1907, Jno.-William Daugherty donated land to the town for a school district which would later become Omaha-Council Bluffs School District #2A . In 1970, the school district merged with neighboring Lincoln Elementary School District to form Omaha-Council Bluffs School District #2B . On February 10th of that year, Scottsbluff's first election took place under new rules due to consolidation within Omaha- Council Bluffs School District #2B into three districts - Scott'sBluff (Scott Township), Lincoln (Lincoln Township), and North Platte (North Platte Township). At that time there were just six residents living in Scottsbluff - five men and one woman - all of whom were voting members of the school board! The vote resulted in two trustees being chosen from each township while three residents were elected as mayor and fourldermen representing Scott'sBluff, Lincolnshire/North Platte Township, and South Sioux City (South Sioux City) Village respectively; this left only one trustee from each township who represented all six residents on the school board! This structure continued until 1975 when all six municipalities combined into one district forming Omaha-Council Bluffs School District #3 which replaced both Scott'sBliff & North Platte Townships within Omaha- Council Bluffs School District #2A . From then until 1995 whenScottsbluffle Municipal Consolidation Act changed districts formation back to five trustees per township became effective . After 15 years without any major changes to property ownership or governance within Scotts bluffer municipality boundaries came about due primarily to a combination of development pressures along with increasing population density throughout central Nebraska over that same period resulting in an overall decrease in real estate values throughout most portions of our community thereby reducing taxable value potential available for local government services.... [Today] much like when Scotts bluffer first formed its municipal boundaries more than 150 years ago; many challenges remain but through hard work by those who live here we are steadily growing stronger every day!"
