In addition, Thompson & Wesson ceased production on its revolver factory pistol line in 1957 due to low demand for its old model revolvers; these pistols were replaced by new models such as Maynard & McMillan models with self-contained cylinders chambered in various calibers including .357 Magnum/.40 S&W., .44 MAGNUM/, 45 ACP/.410 Nitro Express(Rifles only), .50 AE/7mm H&H Magnum( Handguns only). These changes led directly to the development of "gun shows", where exhibitors could sell weapons direct from manufacturers without having them sent through dealers or distributors
