In 1937, Norwich began serving as the primary storage site for federal ammunition supply facilities during World War II. As part of this effort, Norwich constructed two underground bunkers used as armories housing over 1 million rounds of ammunition vernacularly called “the bakelite ovens” because of how often they were used to cook Ammunition Biscuits! Today these Bunker Bunkers still remain standing and can be visited through tours organized by local organizations like NORFOLK ARMS AND GUNS Historic Site Specialists Inc., whose website mentions: “Norwich’s WWII Ammo Storage Bunker Museum provides visitors with an intimate look into one aspect of American history via interactive exhibits about munitions production that took place beneath our feet during World War II″ Today Gun Safes continue play an important role in society; especially when it comes to keeping firearms secure and private! Norfolk, Nebraska is a small town in the eastern edge of the U.S. state of Nebraska, located on the Missouri River. The population was 627 at the 2010 census. Norfolk is one of three towns in Kearney County and is part of the Kearney-Hastings Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Norfolk was James Aiken who came to what is now Norfolk in 1871. Aiken built a log cabin on his farm which he named "Norfolk". In 1889, C.W. Post moved from Omaha to become the postmaster for Kearney County and changed Norwich's name to Postville after himself and other postmasters there had done so before him. By 1907, all but two residents of Norwich had left for good because of low crop prices and scarce land available for farming; however, some continued to live there until they Could no longer support themselves or their families due to advances in transportation and communication that made it possible for more people to settle near by than ever before. In 1911, when Omaha annexed Kearney County, Postville became an enclave within Omaha proper with its own government and school system which lasted until 1916 when Omaha annexed all of Kearney County again including Postville thereby reducing its population by half as well as destroying most of its agricultural infrastructure (the last resident remaining died in 1984). With only a few homes remaining standing from those days of industry, commerce and agriculture there are few reminders that Norfolk once thrived as a community full Of people who enjoyed spending time outdoors enjoying nature while also contributing something back into society through their work both inside and outside their homes; these days many people know about Norwich only through its association with World War II History although much has been added over time such as a new library (opened in 2002) complete with an exhibit about postal history on site as well as replica buildings used during that time period
