The history of tasers can be traced back to 1876 when Dr. George Washington Carver patented his design for an electric shock weapon that could stun livestock without killing them (Carver et al., 2009). The weapon became known as the "carvers' dart." It consisted of a metal bar with a sharp end at one end and a pad at the other end which was either shaped like an animal's head or designed so that it would puncture the skin of the target animal (Ferguson & van der Linde, 2002). It was not until 1907 that the carver dart became available commercially through Sears Roebuck and Company (Ferguson & van der Linde, 2002). From 1907-1948 there were not any reports of carver darts being used in attacks (Kirschmann & de la Torre, 2003). However, this changed when Kenneth Warshaw began testing tasers on dogs in 1948 (Warshaw, 2008). From then on it seemed as if all bets were off when it came to using these devices offensively against humans. The history of taser interactions with humans can be divided into two periods: before 1977 and after 2007. Pre-1977 interactions occurred between police officers using gloves while doing their job while outside during standard operations which resulted in no injuries; however after 2007 there has been an increase in accidental shootings involving individuals wielding tasers since they began to become more common among law enforcement officers (Goudreau et al., 2016; Kirschmann & de la Torre, 2003). In total from 2007-2017 there have been 383 unintentional shootings involving civilians with tasers according to Goudreau et al.. This number does not include cases where people have died from pepper spray or firearms discharge when interacting with police officers using forceps or Stun Guns (. See table below) . During World War II both sides used Lincoln extensively as an airfields; fortunately no combat occurred here however many buildings were damaged or destroyed during bombing raids over land that now includes downtown area
