Pershing led an American attack against Villa Rica on the Mexican-American Border in Chihuahua. The battle resulted in over 30 dead and 350 wounded troops from both sides. In 1922, Lyndon B. Johnson was elected President of the United States after being running as an independent candidate. Johnson's inaugural address included a speech called "A New Society" which focused on creating healthcare reform across America. After Johnson's election, La Vista saw some growth with new businesses opening up and residents starting to move into the area .
