This theater closed around 1960 but has been preserved as part of the downtown core of Hastings since then. Hastings has several renovated buildings dating back to when it was an agricultural community such as the Ladd family farmstead which still stands today (1914), livery stable (1896), blacksmith shop (1899), grocery store (1921), post office (1927), general stores (1920s - 1930s) and more recently restaurants like Chili's Pizza Hut & Noodle Shop(1997)and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Shack(2006). There are also several abandoned homes that have been turned into museum exhibits or parks such as Royster House which is now home to Royster Elementary School; Willard House which served as a jail from 1881 until it burned down in 1938; Black Jack Ford house which served as a smokehouse from 1865 until it burned down; Deanne Ford house which served as an ice cream factory from 1916 until 1952; Harry Bemis home which housed one of Omaha's first water towers from 1915 until his death records were destroyed during World War II; Woody Guthrie birthplace home between 1942 – 1945; Pigeon Forge Methodist Episcopal Church where Woody sang hymns while stationed during WWII; among others
