In 1890, when Omaha City was founded by merging several townships including Hastings along with Lincoln and North Platte to form its nucleus, Hastings remained an unincorporated community within Omaha City boundaries until May 14th 1903 when it formally incorporates as an annexed town within Omaha City limits subject to all same rules and regulations as other annexed towns within Omaha Citylimits
