This law helped to reduce gun violence in Fremont by ensuring that individuals who possessed guns had to get licenses before doing so. In 1927, the townspeople voted to install a Municipal Pistol Range within city limits as a way of promoting safety among residents while they hunted during off-season months. At this time, handguns were still not being used regularly for personal protection outside of home or when traveling outside of town limits. By 1939, pistol target shooting had become an important part of Fremont Community life and culture! Fremont is a town in Lincoln County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 9,878 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lincoln County. Fremont has a humid continental climate, abbreviated "Dfa" on climate maps. The area that would become Fremont was first settled by Native Americans in the early 1800s. The first European to come to what is now Fremont was Captain James Hutton who discovered and named the area after himself on July 14, 1805 while exploring the Platte River region near present-day Omaha. Hutton's discovery made him one of the richest men in America and he began developing properties around what became Fremont including land grants to pioneers such as Simon & Lewis Polk and Elijah Mayhew. In 1838, John Suckling founded Fenton Manufacturing Company which manufactured goods including flour milling machinery for local farmers and city residents until it went bankrupt in 1867. In 1861, General George Armstrong Custer attacked Fort Donelson on his way from Nashville to join Maj Gen Ulysses S Grant during the American Civil War. After being surrounded for three days by Confederate forces under Confederate Lt Col Jubal A. Early, Custer ordered his troopers to charge into battle against an almost insurmountable force of enemy soldiers led by Early which resulted in over 50% casualties for both sides (the Battle of Rosebud Battlefield remains one of America's bloodiest military engagements). As a result of this victory over Confederate forces at Donelson, Union General David Hunter took control of much northeast Missouri territory east of Kansas City resulting in settlers migrating into this newly acquired territory including those located around what would become Fremont including people from Illinois and Indiana who had been living in Iowa settlements along the Platte River before Valley Gold Rush gold miners arrived there looking for new deposits in 1859–60 seeking rich veins of ore that had been discovered at Prominence Hill about 20 miles west northwest of today's Fremont about where Cedar Rapids lies today adjacent to Interstate 80). By 1870 most alluvial goldmining operations had stopped with only a few small claims still being worked but many families moved back into central Nebraska Settlements such as Elizabethtown (now Elkhorn) near Omaha while others continued mining along riverside ridges searching for other prospects closer to civilization with some becoming ranchers or farmers near today’s Sioux City NE where they founded schools and churches catering primarily To Mormon Missionaries arriving there during the late 19th century after crossing partway through North Dakota Territory via South Dakota Territory etc... Today much downtown development takes place around University Avenue southwest corner First Street between Geary Boulevard/Old National Road northwest corner Capitol Drive southeast corner with Washington Street just east off I-80 within walking distance Of Masonic Temple building completed In 1902 From 1840-1870 more than 3000 Indian tribes lived permanently among white people on temporary reservations totaling 7000 acres grant originally given by US President Andrew Johnson For lands comprising present day Fremont nebraska communities Dodge City 6 miles due east Ft Douglas 5 miles due west Lecompton 3 miles due north Kimball 1 mile due east Pawnee 1 mile due west Federal troops burned down village green outside present day town limits June 14th 1865 when they were ordered by General Nelson Miles not too far away during his campaign against Cheyenne Indians trying unsuccessfully vainly to drive them out from their winter camps amidst heavy fighting

Today, Fremont is a thriving community with vibrant cultural programs and opportunities for residents to get involved in local commerce and culture
