The Gun Control Act was renewed every five years thereafter until it expired in 1972; however, Nebraskans continued to enjoy some degree of gun control under various forms until 1976 when passage of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) led to a full ban on handguns across the State Capitol Building in Omaha metropolitan area
Fremont is a city in Nebraska, United States. The population was 21,715 at the 2010 census. Fremont is the largest city in Nebraskan County and home to two of the state's major universities: Nebraska Wesleyan University and Northern Illinois University. It is also the seat of county government for Nebraskan County. Fremont has a humid continental climate with mild winters and hot, wet summers. The area now called Fremont was first settled by American Indians in what today is Fremont Township on the eastern edge of Omaha City proper. The first European to explore this part of Nebraska was Pierre Dorion, who visited this region in 1824 while exploring the Great Plains as part of his explorations westward from Canada. By 1830, Indian trails had been followed by fur traders into what would eventually become Omaha City proper and much of present-day Fremont was under cultivation as early as 1836 when a group led by Isaac Smith platted out Lots 5and 6 near present day Elmira Road and Century Boulevard. In 1853, some Mormons founded Fort Douglas on its current site south of Fremont State Park; however, it did not take hold until after Mormon pioneers arrived in western Nebraska (the Salt Lake Valley) during the Utah War (1848–1849). As early as 1850s there were reports that Mormons were living among regular farmers east of Omaha City limits; they soon started building sizable homes on land east along Washburn Road pastpresent day Kearney Avenue before moving into areas north and northwest of town beginning about 1861 or 1862 when they obtained title to large tracts adjacent to water sources essential for irrigation development schemes being developed around these areas – areas that are still located within city limits today including much undeveloped property between 17th Street NW (now I-80) and 24th Street NW (Lincoln Drive), east across Sheridan Rd., southwest across Worthington Rd., southeast along Wittenberg Ave., then northeast along 19th St..Today’s Christensen Ranch lies just outside our boundaries on 15 acres just northwest of Linnans Road NE visible from Interstate 80.. In 1865 Brigham Young sent men named John Atherton (founder president Brigham Young Academy), Wilford Woodruff (founder bishopric Wilford Woodruff Conference), Anthon Huxley (president English Studies Department at LDS Church university Provo Utah), Lorenzo Snow(founder professor geology department Brigham Young Univ.) with supplies needed for settlement which included 800acre section now Greenwood Cemetery outside town limits acquired from Pacific Northwest Railroad company 1st Ward meeting held 2/3’d capacity & resolved to form 1st Precinct w/ headquarters @ Masonic Hall – original plat shown public 3/4’d full & recommendation given by Govt Attorney General

The two devices have different purposes, but they share a common ancestor: the Old World Barbary Gun. The Old World Barbary Gun was an early form of firearms that used a revolving handle to cock the weapon. It was used by pirates to attack merchant ships. The function of the gun swivel made it much easier to aim, and it also allowed pirates to take advantage of shipboard defenses by turning their cannons towards their enemies instead of directly at them. The use of gun swivels began to spread throughout Europe during the 18th century, and they became popular in North America as well. By 1815, many warships had been equipped with gun swivels, and they were increasingly being used against American forces in warring countries such as Spain and China. During the American Revolution, guns were frequently mounted on warships as part of naval warfare. This gave rise to concerns that warships would become effective targets if they were not protected from artillery fire from landward sources. In response, Congress passed legislation known as The Continental Navy Act of 1797 which provided for better coastal fortifications along US coasts and prohibited Spanish cannonball fire into US territory. Gunswivels continued to beutilized during the War of 1812 because they were more efficient than traditional cannons when it came to targeting enemy vessels from a distance. Swivelling turrets on warships could now slew multiple shots at once without having to reload; this made them even more effective at taking down enemy vessels rather than just firing one shot per turn like traditional cannons did.

However, although Fremont has remained an important community throughout its history, it is now largely a rural area with few residents remaining within its boundaries
