Fremont is a small town in Nebraska, located on the border of Fremont County and Arapaho County. The population was 1,597 at the 2010 census. Fremont has been home to gun makers and dealers for more than 100 years. The first gun maker in Fremont was George Stephenson, who started making cannons in 1814. In 1847, John W. Brodie opened the first store in Fremont with his family. The Brodies were instrumental in helping to grow Fremont into a vibrant community that today can be seen as a hub for firearms manufacturing and retail sales. In 1908, Hiram Maxim founded Maxim Manufacturing Company here to make assault rifles and pistols. Today, firearm manufacturers such as Colt Firearms Inc., Ruger Firearms Corporation, Glock handgun company, Savage Arms Corporation and Smith & Wesson are all headquartered in or have their roots here. In 1940, local resident Clyde Tombaugh discovered Meteorites from Mars while exploring the planet during an excavation for oil wells near where he lived at the time. After examining the meteorites under a microscope he realized they were weapons grade steel! This discovery led to Tombaugh becoming one of America's most well-known science personalities when he televised his findings live on PBS' "Exploration" show in 1951

This discovery led to the invention of artillery by Leonardo da Vinci in 1512 AD – this was a type of weapon where small explosives were placed on top of cannon balls to create an explosion which destructive force would then damage or destroy targets

Fremont is the second-largest city in Nebraska and the fifth-largest city in the United States proper. Fremont was founded by European Americans in 1851 as a town on the Platte River, east of Omaha. It became a city on December 4, 1893, when it merged with Quincy to form Omaha. The name "Fremont" comes from an early settler named George Frémont and originally referred to a part of what is now Omaha that lay between Fremont Creek and South Park Boulevard. The first businesses in Fremont were wagon shops and saddleries, followed by law offices and grocery stores. A post office was established at Fremont on March 17, 1851, but it did not open until November 7 of that year because no one had applied for it. The town grew quickly due to its location near two major railroads: The Kansas Pacific Railroad (KP) and the Chicago & Northwestern Railway (C&NW). In 1852, KP built a line from Omaha to Fremont; this made Fremont one of the fastest growing cities in America at that time. In 1860, C&NW constructed their own line from Omaha to Fremont; this made it even faster growth for Fremont. However, both companies abandoned their lines during the American Civil War because they feared Union raids into their territories. As a result of this lack of traffic along these important corridors, homes prices in downtown Fremount went up sixty percent between 1861 and 1870 alone! In 1865–66 another company began construction on what would become known as "the Great Northern Road", which would connect Kearney Junction with Dodge City overland through western Nebraska Territory before crossing into Iowa Territory at Plattsmouth Landing. This road would be very important for settlers coming westward because it offered them easy access to markets inside Missouri and Illinois without having to journey downriver all the way through Iowa or Minnesota! Because of this new development – which saw rapid growth within less than thirty years – single family homes began becoming more common throughout downtown Fremount than ever before! By 1870 there were over 1,000 residences within 2 blocks of the business district! This newfound prosperity allowed for civic improvements such as sidewalks and streetlights; howeverominimum efforts were put forth towards decorative Arts like architecture or painting until after World War II when Downtown Development Corporation took control following downtown's neglect during wartime rebuilding initiatives elsewhere in Omaha/Council Bluffs area
