Fremont, Nebraska is a town in Grant County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Fremont is part of the Omaha metropolitan area. The first firearms to be used in Fremont were shotguns and rifles. A store on the corner of Sixth and Market Streets was opened by Captain John Condon in 1876. In 1887, a small arms company named the Fremont Rifle Company was founded by Captain John Condon and his son-in-law Dr. George Henson with three men. The company manufactured rifles and shotguns until it ceased operations in 1922 due to financial difficulties. In 1903, a shotgun factory opened in Fremont by Jens Jensen and Jens Pedersen who also operated a sawmill in nearby Lincoln City. The Jensen Shotguns factory produced over 350 guns over five years before closing its doors for good in 1912 due to lack of demand from customers who preferred other types of shotguns such as rifle or pistol pistols. A post office called Fremont was established in 1881, but it did not become operational until 1893 when it was moved from Hastings to Fremont under the name Hastings Post Office because there wasn't enough space at that location for both offices combined. In 1905, an express wagon depot called "The Frying Pan" was built near Seventh Street and Elm Avenue which served as a transfer point for goods arriving from Omaha via freight cars coming down Seventh Street into town then going east out of town on Elm Avenue through downtown where they unloaded onto wagons parked along Sixth Street before continuing their journey up Seventh Street into town where they unloaded again onto carts drawn by horses waiting at the depot before being delivered to various parts of town including homes or businesses along SixthStreet until they reached the edge of town near current day Elm Avenue where they were unloaded again onto carts drawn by horses waiting at the depot before being delivered back into Omaha on horseback or streetcars depending on how much traffic had been generated during their stay within city limits). This Express Wagon Depot also functioned as a stop for passengers traveling between Sioux City (now Council Bluffs) west across Iowa State Highway 431 toward Rock Island (now Cedar Rapids) and Dodge City (now Dixon), Kansas en route to either Wichita or Topeka; or between Dodge City andCouncil Bluffs along Interstate 90 which passed through Sioux City south off I-90 just north of present day First avenues NE; or betweenCouncil Bliffs and DodgeCity along I-90 which passed through Sioux City north off I-90 just south of present day First avenues NE; all stopping at "The Frying Pan" which passengers would enter through an open door next to the tracks allowing them access immediately upon arrival without having to wait for one of the coaches parked outside while others transported their luggage inside while still others waited on outdoor platforms while cars NJT deposited passengers at "The Frying pan". Amtrak travelers travelling between Chicago/Rock Island IL & Wichita KS boarded passenger trains here after crossing IA State highway 431 eastbound & taking US highway 169 westbound passing past what is now northeast corner Of First avenue NE & southeast corner Of Elm avenue NE prior getting off US Highway 169 @ Iowa state line then riding northwest on US highway 171 all making their way back home via Rock Island

On April 14, 1861, Fremont residents adopted a resolution calling for annexation by Iowa; this vote did not take place because Iowa refused to recognize Fremont as an independent city until November 1st due to its own secession debate goingongoing at that time. On January 5th 1870 William McKinley was sworn into office as president of the United States and upon his inauguration issued Executive Order 9981 which ordered all federal funds be withheld from any cities or towns that didn't ratify the Mexican Constitution including Fremont. This order caused great financial hardship for many American cities such as San Francisco and New York City which were struggling with budget deficits at the time while also experiencing economic depression brought about by technological advances like railroadotechnology which were changing day by day across America combined with increasing immigration rates originating from Southern Mexico making American jobs scarce (in contrast San Francisco experienced rapid growth thanks to new technologies). It wasn't until 1888 when mayor George Mapes instituted streetlights throughout downtown followed by electric lighting Throughout town beginning in 1895 that began reducing darkness outside late into evening providing opportunities for businesses/workers to use sidewalks during daytime hours instead of walking down dark streets near busy business districts where there was little hope for resulting business success later nights or during weekends leading to increased crime rates especially during winter months since criminals could more easily find victims unawares inside homes rather then waiting outside busy areas during daylight hours) thus stimulating local economy creating new jobs opportunities throughout early 1900s increasing tax revenue thereby supporting public finances thereby benefiting citizens
