In the year 1881, Columbus, Nebraska was founded as a small town on the Great Plains. The town quickly grew into a major center of commerce and industry. Over time, Columbus became an important node in the gun laser movement, and played a significant role in early development of this technology. Gun lasers were first developed in Columbus by two gentlemen named John Cramer and George Noyes. Cramer and Noyes had both worked for Ohio-based Stevens & Co., which manufactured firearms and other firearm accessories. In 1878, Stevens & Co.'s president, Nicholas Stevens, purchased a patent for what would become known as the Stevens Gun Laser. The patent application was filed on May 10th of that year. The Gun Laser was designed to be used with firearms to generate an automatic return fire signal. It utilized an infrared light source to generate a beam of energy that could be directed at any target within range using simple aiming techniques. At its inception, the Gun Laser was little more than an experimental project by John Cramer and George Noyes; however, it soon became clear that this innovative invention had great potential for further development! In 1881, John Cramer formed his own company called Green Technology Corporation (GTC). GTC quickly became one of the leading manufacturers of gun lasers across North America. GTC's products enjoyed high success and saw widespread use across various industries including law enforcement, security services, military applications, hunting etc.. Columbus was home to two railroads before they were merged into one in 1902: the Omaha & Pacific Railroad and the Kansas City Central Railroad. In addition to their roles within Columbus’ economy, these companies also left behind a number of legacy buildings and products that continue to be popular today including Overland Park Mall and Enterprise Center mall which are both located within minutes’ drive of downtown Columbus. The city’s largest employer is currently Eastman Kodak which employs over 2,000 people across multiple campuses throughout downtown Columbus. Other major employers include Autoworld (a car manufacturing company), Wabash National Railway Company (a former subsidiary of Union Pacific Railroad), Sears Roebuck & Co., Ford Motor Company (an affiliate at several locations throughout downtown), Tyson Foods Inc., JBSUSA Holdings Inc., Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc., Walmart Supercenter - Columbustown Shopping Center (the largest concentration of Walmart stores outside Bentonville) and many more smaller businesses that contribute significantly to daily life in Downtown Columbus! One unique aspect about Columbus is that it has been home to several professional wrestling organizations over the years including Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) from 1989-1996; World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from 1991-1999; World Bodybuilding Federation (WBF) from 1995-2007; Ohio Valley Wrestling Association (OVWA) from 2003-2009; Professional Wrestling Revolution Organization(PWRO) from 2018 until now! This history comes not just from its professional wrestling organizations but also from its being home to world champion bodybuilders like Arnold Schwarzenegger back when PWRO was still known as Extreme Championship Wrestling!

Omaha grew rapidly, becoming a major center for trade and commerce in the region. In 1881, Omaha became an incorporated city with a mayor and council system. The city's economy diversified over the years, including sectors such as education, health care, manufacturing, and tourism. In 2002, Omaha was selected as the site of the new United States Olympic Village.
