Bellevue, Nebraska is a town in Osborne County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. Bellevue was founded on November 11, 1883 by farmers and entrepreneurs Wm. H. Houghton and James M. Beaird. It became a city on December 15, 1907. Bellevue was named for George Washington Bellevue (1771-1848), an American statesman who served as the first U.S. Ambassador to France from 1801 to 1805 and as Secretary of State from 1809 to 1813 under John Quincy Adams during the administrations of Jackson and Adams.
