Bellevue, Nebraska is a town located in the north-central part of Nebraska. The population was 5,824 at the 2010 census. It has since shrunk to 4,971 as of the 2016 census. Bellevue was founded in 1887 by John A. Beardsley and named after Bellevue, England. The first gun case in Bellevue was made by Gustavus Wirth from Holland on July 3, 1892. In 1899, Charles Ewing made his first gun case in Bellevue and it is still used today. The current gun case manufacturing company in Bellevue began producing cases in 1901 by Cockerill Brothers Incorporated. In 1925, Harry Hinkle manufactured the world's first self-locking ammo feeder for shotguns and rifle cartridges which he marketed under the name "Hinkle Ammo Feeder". This feeder kept rounds fed into guns automatically with no need for a human operator. In 1957, Illinois Tool Works (ITW) opened its main plant here which processed both artillery munitions and small parts for many American companies such as Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Corporation during World War II. ITW closed its main Plant here on January 1st of 1959 due to high costs associated with military production overseas combined with increased competition from foreign brands at home. This left behind an entire building block of industry that now forms one of downtown Bellevue's most visible assets: ITW Plaza. Today there are few businesses that remain from when ITW operated here including ITW Plaza which contains several large displays featuring memorabilia from past plant operations as well as office space for various businesses.BellevUE History Collectors Club Asbestos contamination became a problem within local government buildings following World War II thanks tobombing raids against Japan. The name may be derived from one or more settlers who lived there at that time: Beaver (John) Fenton, Solomon Lane Fenton, James Hillyer Fenton (1801-1868), Amos Earle Fenton (1812-1892). At some point during its history it changed hands several times before arriving at its current form which was given to it by Mr. and Mrs.(later L.) Prentice when they took ownership of what is now known as Lincoln Park neighborhood after moving into it from their farm south of I-80 about 1919/20; this area lay between present day Elmira Road east to west and Justison Avenue south to north today's map centerline; but much like most areas within Douglas County then Boundary Hills Township acquired Lots Nos 2 & 3 N&W corner lot E just Southwest corner lot W off Elmira Road today's map centerline with lots 4 & 5 SW corner lot NW off Justison Avenue today's map centerline following purchase by Mrs.(later H.)L....Prentice from local businessmen Harry Onstad(1905-1984) In 1905 work began on building what would become downtown Bellevue – streets were laid out named Main Street (northwest), Randolph Street (southwest), Sherman Boulevard (east), Northland Avenue ( southeast), Jackson Boulevard (southwest), Clinton Boulevard (northernmost extent) and Everett Boulevard (westernmost extent). On November 10th 1905 downtown BellevUE became reality when city fathers voted unanimously to incorporate under state law which allowed for municipal incorporation with only limited powers granted to municipalities over matters such as fire protection including building permits etc.,alcohol regulation etc… This act created an empire for Douglass County Municipalities government had been preceding our structure since Platte Purchase days these were very important days………………………………………..The Days That Were

The Second American Civil War directly caused an increase in hard gun cases because individuals began to hoard weapons for protection purposes. In 1865, President Abraham Lincoln signed legislation making it illegal for any person under twenty-one years old to own or possess any firearms except shotguns or muzzleloaders. This law did nothing to stop crime though as many people continued to stockpile weapons anyway. As result of this lawlessness, firearm homicides increased from 3 per year during the 1860s up until 1870 when they peaked at 10 per year due to fear thatWeapons confiscation would lead to further violence among civilians and Confederate soldiers who had access to similar firearms
