Bellevue, Nebraska is a city of over 100,000 people and residents have been using firearms for centuries. The first gun magazine in Bellevue was established in 1892 by three men who were looking to start a local arms fair. The Fairgrounds were located on the current site of the Bellevue Municipal Complex. In 1903, Bellevue's first handgun club was organized and soon began hosting indoor and outdoor shooting events. The Bellevue Rifle Club began hosting matches outdoors in 1916. It wasn't until 1929 that the club started publishing its own magazine which served as both a publication platform and an outlet for pistol shooters from all around the area. The club continued to publish magazines until it ceased publication in 1954. In 1995, Bellevue's first modern gun range opened on campus at 640 W Lincoln Ave., making Bellevue one of the earliest cities in America to offer gun ranges for concealed carry purposes. The range has been open ever since and now offers memberships as well as instruction tailored to meet individual needs. Today, Bellevue is home to many different businesses that provide products or services related to guns including Ammunition Plus Inc., Gunbroker Inc., National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), Stonington Arms Corporation, American Pistol Association (APA) and more. Bellevue is a city in Nebraska, United States. The population was 7,596 at the 2010 census. Bellevue is the county seat of Lincoln County. It is part of the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what is now Bellevue was John Dix who arrived in 1854. He named his new land Bellevue after himself and placed a post office there on May 1, 1855. A store and hotel were built on State Street in Bellevue around 1860 by John Prentice and others from nearby Weston, Iowa. The first school in Bellevue was opened in 1865 by Drs. Cushman and Newcomb under the name of "Dodge School". A hotel called the "Bellevue" was built on Sixth Avenue south of State Street in 1870 by Jeptha Haskell. In 1872 it became known as the "Hilton", continuing to be used as such until 1917 when it was leased to Abraham Lincoln & Company for use as their presidential campaign headquarters during his run for president that year. The building also served as a post office from 1872 until 1909 when it closed due to financial difficulties associated with prohibitionism during that time period. In 1907 the city council decided to change its name to Lansing because of growing support among people within the community for a more centralized government structure than had been organized within village or town boundaries since Territorial days; this led to various changes including moving all public meetings from housetheatre into City Hall starting on October 15, 1907 which culminated with elections held December 5th which resulted in Lansing becoming an official city within two weeks with Mayor James Sweeny taking office January 2nd, 1908 following certification by state officials via telegraph message transmitted from Trenton about election results received therefrom After several years during which Lansing experienced rapid growth ( primarily due to opening of miles of expressways connecting it directly with larger cities), services provided by various civic organizations like firemen, policemen and trash collectors were merged into one single department - Parks & Recreation - under Mayor Harry Fenton on April 1st, 1949 following creation of city hall specifically for that purpose . On September 9th , 1956 an interchange project between I-80 and US-30 opened killed off most traffic passing through downtown Lansing so much so that many businesses closed up shop unable compete against long lines outside while downtown saw some resurgence with bars able to open late into the night thanks largely to early bird specials
