With World War I looming large, ammunition manufacturers scrambled to find new ways to sell their products to soldiers on all fronts. One such company was Brownells, which developed what is now known as "ammunition grade" lead bullets that were specifically designed for military use. In 1935, Armour Manufacturing Corporation (now ArmaLite) moved its operations from Chicago into Bellevue and began producing artillery rounds and other munitions under a two-year contract with Douglas County Sheriff Harry Lee (later elected Omaha Mayor). By 1940, Armour had become one of America's leading ammunition producers and dealers. During World War II Ammunition production shifted focus towards supplies needed by the military instead of making fresh rounds for general sale; this allowed companies like Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) to concentrate on making quality rounds at their factories overseas while millions of Americans fought overseas. ammo manufacturing continued through the Cold War era but slowly declined thereafter due to technological advances and increased international competition; however some oldochemical facilities have been converted into industrial training ranges today - most notably those located at Creighton University in Omaha and Lincoln University in Nebraska City – providing Ammo enthusiasts with opportunities to experience firsthand how ammo is made right here at home!

Bellevue is part of the Omaha-Council Bluffs-Bellevue, NE Metropolitan Statistical Area. It lies on the eastern edge of Douglas County and is bordered by the towns of Clive and Holland to its north and east, Scottsbluff to its south and west, and Fremont to its southwest. Bellevue straddles both Interstate 80 and State Highway 71 which lead southward into Iowa. The first residents of Bellevue were farmers who arrived in 1859 from Pennsylvania. They built a log cabin near what is now downtown Bellevue on the banks of the Missouri River. A post office was established in 1870, but it was discontinued in 1872 because no mail went to Bellevue from that point onward. In 1880 Edward Sibley opened a mercantile store at 3 Main Street which became one of the largest stores in town after he acquired two other businesses nearby. In 1902 John Witte closed his grocery store on Broadway Avenue due to competition from J C Penney's store across town which had been opened by John Hodge four years earlier. Witte reopened his store two weeks later with new equipment thanks to financial support from local businessmen Hugh Gorman (a partner of business magnate Charles Evans Hughes) and Arthur Miles Jr.. However, within a few years Witte's Store burned down again due to an accidental fire that caused extensive damage; this fire also destroyed many buildings in downtown Bellevue including Penney's original building as well as most of Witte's employees' homes for safety reasons. After several decades without any major commercial development or industrial growth within Bellevue until 1910 when another agrarianist group migrated there led by James Muhlenkamp renamed their village "Bellevue" after home state Vermont where they had moved previous year while attending college together aturiak University (now Drake University). The community plat form approved by voters on November 7th 1910 read: "Be sure that all plats submitted heretofore are included hereinunder...It has been our intention always to have each individual named headman or woman so that everyone could be justly considered for leadership." This act formalized village governance under one roof with elected headmen/women responsible for all aspects such as road construction/maintenance etcetera under one roof making it possible for young people like Muhlenkamp (then only 27) not only to get involved early in village life but also learn about township government structure before moving out onto their own land later on when they would assume more responsibility themselves A Post Office was established at Bellevue on December 1st 1911 followed quickly by phone service providing citizens with long distance communication option unavailable anywhere else at that time including Omaha area In 1935 Harry Laughlin erected a large concrete building adjacents US 74 & I-80 providing him with late night available storage space for his products plus 24 hour express service available 7 days per week during peak hours .this gave birth indirectly or directly to today’s KFC located along I-80 just east of present day SE Peebles Rd
