Beatty purchased land in what is now Beatrice from the Sioux and Dakota natives. He began to make his own shotguns and handguns, which he sold through local merchants. In 1868, a group of men from Omaha founded the Nebraska Rifle Association to promote rifle shooting in the state. By 1876, there were over 100 shooting clubs in Nebraska.
Beatrice is a small town in Lincoln County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. James had been born in Bellevue Nebraska in 1857 and Anna Belle was born in Marshalltown Iowa in 1861. They first came to Nebraska when they were both twenty years old and started a family of six children: James (1881-1953), Meta (1885-1968), Edwin (1887-1974), Sarah Jane (1889-1972), & twins Johnnie & Josephine (1901-1978). The initial population of Beatrice consisted of just James, Meta, Edwin, Sarah Jane, Jr., Johnnie & Josephine with their families and some local farmers who had moved there from other parts of the state for various reasons including farming or business opportunities. In 1890 when it was platted as a town site Beatrice had only 350 residents and by 1900 it counted 439 residents with 20 businesses including 3 stores, 11 restaurants, 2 hotels& 8 boarding houses. By 1910 its population reached 710 people with 25 businesses including 5 stores, 12 restaurants, 3 hotels& 9 boarding houses. In 1930 the original Post Office building burned down which resulted in the need for a new one which was built on what is now First Street between Broadway & Seventh Avenue NE In 1940 the Union Pacific Railroad donated land to build a station which became Beatrice's first commercial center followed by other amenities like schools (grades K - 6) until 1955 when all but one school closed due to budget cuts Today on Main Street you can find several convenience stores such as Walmart Supercenter food court/grocery store; gas stations; two banks - Citizens Bank and Wells Fargo; three churches - First Baptist Church (& associated church buildings); two auto mechanics shops; three Chuck E Cheese's locations across from each other - one near Central High School where kids play outdoors during lunchtime called "Chuck'n'Lunch", another across from Roosevelt Middle School called "Maniacal Mania" and finally two bars - The Eagle Tavern open late night serving alcohol and Hard Rock Cafe open early morning serving breakfast served buffet style with variety items like bacon wrapped dates etc... A park has also been built next to central high school - named after James Fenton's parents farmstead home that burned down nearby while they were living there... Heifetz Park after his death where he played ball before going off to college

Grant issued an executive order naming Beatrice as the capital of Nebraska Territory following his visit to that state earlier that year. That same year saw significant growth in Beatrice – both due to factors such as railroads coming through town and new businesses popping up all around thestrategic location on the high bluffs overlooking the Missouri River. During World War II, Beatrice played a significant role in supporting America’s war effort by providing munitions and other supplies to local allies throughout Europe and Asia. The city also experienced some key moments during this time including when Japanese forces burned down parts of downtown on December 7th, 1941; when more than fifty thousand people participated in a civil rights march from downtownBeatrice to Omaha’s Civic Center on February 26th; or when over six hundred people died after being trapped undergrowth while hiking near Grand Forks National Park on April 20th 1945
